Been having internet and 'phone connection problems for awhile now. Then laptop went out and bought a new Dell today. Had an AT&T technician out each day last week. Last conversation was told wait until after 5:00 pm and system would heal itself. Didn't work. Now expect to have phone service in "24 to 48 hours."

At least I'm back on the Ruger Forum!

I have AT&T phone service and the phone lines are the worst in the world. My internet connection over the phone lines is so slow many pages will not open and it takes forever to do anything on line.
I am researching getting satellite, which of course will be more headaches of a different kind.

I have Dish Network internet, I would much rather have cable but none available on my back road.

We have Uverse also and I'd say it's very fast.

I didn't know you could still get internet over a dial up connection. I bet that is slow, but AT&T isn't at fault. It's the heavy web pages with all the information on them, pictures and video. Do you have a modem and what a phone number you dial into to connect?

I can't speak to the other poster, but I too get internet via my phone line, but it isn't dial up, and is faster than DSL.

I've got Verizon FIOS; Never lose it in a storm, fast; AINT impressed with their TV offerings and how much they charge, BUT it's better than the "WildBlue" internet we use to have.

Well, here's my story: About a year ago or so, I bundled my internet and my home phone service with AT & T U-verse. Fine, or so I thought.

Two weeks ago I began experiencing computer problems, couldn't get connected to the internet I called AT&T and was told I could not have internet and phone service bundled. I would have to go back to land-line for telephone. At the same time I began having computer problems, which I didn't recognize as such because of the goings on with AT&T. Long story short, I am now on the internet and have a new computer.

I still have my phone coming through my modem, but my last conversation with an "agent" was that my land-line would be made whole within 24 to 48 hours. Today is Saturday, and they were not sure if Saturday was included in the "24~48 hour" time frame. If, and when that does occur, I am to unplug my phone from the modem and plug it in the phone jack.

And............................

My previous computer was a MAC lap top from Apple, which I inherited from my late nephew, and is pretty old. So I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 Thursday. So now I'm re-learning how to navigate a new computer.

These past two weeks have been a thrill a minute!
