Import Duty ?

any one every do an online purchase that resulted in having to pay import duty? If so, how does it work?
my case, there is a Swiss watch I like, BUT I can not find it through any US dealers. It is pretty popular in EU. So If I place an online order for a $300 watch, the expected duty is $15, but how is that paid and does the US carrier add additional fees for taking the item through custom?

Depends on how you paid for it... But I buy international stuff all the time, and the extra duty shows up as a separate charge. Sometimes there's no real way to know it's associated with a given purchase except for the purchase date. So for that reason I only ever make one international purchase in a 24 hour day.
