I took a different direction today,,,,

Looks like a fairly effective late night pest control tool, so as such, you can write it off on your taxes next year. You're a genius Contender! 8)

Hey Ty are you going to the dark side   on the serious side I have been thinking about something like that for awhile let us know how it shoots I would love to know what size groups it would shoot at 50 yds

Gramps

I've been wanting to try one of those but the cost has put me off. Let us know how well it works for you. I might come out far enough ahead this year to add something like that to the stable IF it works.

Ok ya'll, I had to have a bit of fun!
Actually, that 10/22 belongs to my stepson. He was given a 10/22 by me many years ago, and always wanted to "trick it out" a bit. He's also a lefty.
Well, due to a (BAD) 12 year marriage that he got out of last fall, he's finally been able to get back into doing stuff for himself. So, we got him a nice bull barrel this spring for his B-day. He promptly ordered that Boyd stock. He likes different colors, and is a lot of fun to rag on. Next, he decided to remove the night vision scope off another rifle he has to try it on the 10/22 for the pests around his house. So, yesterday, when he came out for Mothers Day, he brought it with him & we finished zeroing the scope. That gun can shoot tiny groups if you do your part.

While it's a neat set-up, and he had fun with it, it made him re-think his choice of scope. Plus, I let him shoot my 10/22 with a 2x7 older low profile Redfield scope. And, my 10/22 has a Volquartsen trigger group installed. He decided he liked the normal scope better, as well as the trigger group. I proved the differences in trigger groups to him by letting him shoot them side by side.

So, before we remove the scope, (and he plans to sell it,) I had to snap a few pics. I figured the folks around here who know my love of the older & more traditional stuff might wonder if I hadn't finally gone off the deep end! Had to have a little fun!

Great share contender. I built one very similar to this several years ago.

Had an old blued barrel/black receiver model. It had a cracked pot metal trigger guard. So Ruger had me send the metal trigger group in and they gave me a new tougher polymer one. A lot of the black painted finish was wearing off the receiver so I had my buddy Dan Slack with Slack Guns bead blast and polish it. It matched the 16 inch stainless threaded bull barrel I purchased, an ER Shaw Ultra Grade.

That stock looks exactly like the one I got from Boyds. But mine was the gray laminated. Looked great with the silver finish. The polymer trigger group I just left alone but later on Dan gave it a very nice trigger job. Put a nice little 2x7 on there. I liked the accuracy... A LOT. I replaced the thread protector with a birdcage flash hider.

That's one of those few guns I shouldn't have sold. I miss it. A LOT.
