I Think I Did Good

I found what I believe is an unmodified three-screw Blackhawk. The serial number indicates it was made in 1964, the gun is tight, the bore is shiny and the rifling sharp, and the hammer makes four distinct clicks as it's drawn back (I believe someone here informed my once that was an indication that it was never sent back for the alteration). The bluing, except for holster wear--which I think gives an older gun character--is still nice and deep.

I paid $50, and that included the holster.

I think I did good.

Wow, a 20% profit just like that? How could I refuse? lol

I know the price was ridiculously low, but it was a situation where I did the previous owner an enormous favor and he wanted to give me the gun. I told him what I thought it was and what it was potentially worth, and he still insisted I take it. He only took the $50 when I was adamant I wanted to pay for it, and that's all he would take.

And yep, I realize this thread is worthless without pics. I'll take some pics of this gun and of the three-screw Single-Six that fell into my lap (though that one cost me $200) a few months ago, and post them this weekend.

There's the Single-Six three-screw that I paid $200 for, and the Blackhawk .357 I mentioned in the first post. Neither have been converted.

I'm thinking now that I need a .357 Marlin lever action and a Marlin 39A.

Your Single Six is a Super Single Six, and what is going on with the cylinder base pin. looks like it might be in backwards and not all the way??

Yikes, so it is! It's now been fixed (I won't go into the highly humiliating details of how it got that way--needless to say one shouldn't be significantly distracted when reassembling a firearm). Thanks for catching that. And yes, it's a Super Single Six--I have the magnum cylinder for it.

I freely admit I got lucky with both of them. Now I'm hoping to get as lucky with the two Marlins.

1964 is a fairly early 3 screw 'bump' frame. Is the rear sight all steel and still marked Micro by any chance?

The rear sight does look to be all steel. It looks like a steel blade inside a groove in the sight base, and it's adjustable for elevation and windage, but there's no marking on it.

The serial number is 57XXX, which, according to the Ruger website, dates the gun to 1964.
