I love Windows 10

I just did the upgrade to Windows 10. How great is that? I know there were Several threads recently about the upgrade to 10. In my opinion it is very slick and nicely organized. That whole thing about Cortina looks like just a gimmick though, probably for the 20 something crowd....and to compete with the Apple woman which I don't use either.

But the Windows 10 looks like a definite upgrade from 8.1. You know it just takes a little bit to get used to, where different features are, settings etc. the power button is back in the lower left again. I like what I'm seeing so far. No wonder MSFT is going up.

If you don't us Cortina and stay away from the clouds, I think it's not so bad.

glad you like it. The Microsoft products I have had vista and 8.1 have been bad. I do not seeing an upgrade in my future with any product the release until it has been on the market over a year.

My husband actually likes Windows 10. He has a MacBook Pro using the Bootcamp option that allows dual boot with both OSX and Windows. No problems from either boot option when he uses it.

TitanX, I just installed it this afternoon and after checking it out a little turned off the computer. I can't answer your questions yet. I have been told by some people who seem to know about computers tut Windows 10 is a "fix" for all the issues of 8.1, although I never had any problems myself.

I have almost literally resurrected three PCs with Windows 10, 2 of them running 7 and one 8.1. One of them is three years old and much-used, and was down to being slow as molasses in winter -- now it runs better than new. The other two had all kinds of conflicts with peripherals, all of which vanished after the upgrade. I don't know if they fixed everything, but they darned sure improved things a LOT.

A while back my printer ran out of ink. I couldn't find the replacement cartridges anywhere. This as with the 8.1, it worked fine then. But I just took it apart with my daughter to see how it works and show her something new. I haven't replaced it yet, and honestly don't miss it at all.

The one aspect of Windows 10 that bothers me is that it's so invasive. I've been holding off installing it until I understand completely what I'm giving away in terms of privacy.

For Win 10 users both present and future, here's a link that you might wanna go have a look at! ;)

I'll read this later at home. I'm on my phone but you are right. Our privacy is going out the window in favor of big business. The other day my smart tv showed me a message when I turned it on. The legal agreement and policies have changed. I could not watch tv until I agree to the new policies. So how is that fair? Hey can do whatever they want and I must agree to them in order to use my tv which I already purchased.

Well the anti windows 10 mafia will be along shortly to moan about how terrible it is, but I have been using it since it came out, and love it. Not one blue screen of death and all my printers and whatever function perfectly. I think it is a definite improvement but the naysayers will still condemn it, so, I surely don't want to be the cause of ruining your computer, so please don't use it. Please.

That's been my concern. I can't remember where I read that some aspects of the privacy intrusion cannot be disabled...

I hate to say it, but if you are on the Internet the privacy boat sailed a long time ago -- if it ever was in port in the first place. Funny, but the people I know who go on the longest and loudest about Internet privacy are the ones who post every minor aspect of their lives on Facebook and such.

The invasion by Windows seems to go well beyond the typical internet problems. I'm not in favor of centralized software any more than I am of centralized government! ;) So I like to make sure I know what I'm gettin' into before I make the leap.

And I've also considered Linux now that I don't have any company business to do. I may try that on a spare machine and see how it does.

And I more than likely WILL migrate to Win 10 once I understand how to control it... So don't count me as one of the 'haters' ;)

I had been using Windows 10 on a spare computer ever since it came out. A couple times after Windows 10 installed new updates I had to go back into settings and reset them the way I had them set before the update. The last update I noticed that Windows 10 had also un-installed a couple programs that I had installed and had deleted one of them that I use every day. That computer now has Linux on it.

There are lots of folks on the anti side...

Anyone who hates big business
The UNIX nerds
The Apple customer base
Any former MS developers or beta testers who feel wronged or 'dissed' by the lack of free stuff from MS, or the lack of respect shown for their brilliance
Anyone who worked for a company that MS took business from

...just to name a few

Just relating my experiances. If you enjoy using Windows 10 and have no problems that is great. You may want to keep an eye on your settings now and then. I will keep checking on Windows 10 as I still have it installed on another spare laptop. I'm sure it will improve as time goes by, all their other versions had issues at first. For now though I'll stick to 7 and 8.1. Not a real Linux fan, but it keeps improving also.

I keep being told Windows 10 is not available yet still undergoing development.

Aint no puter whiz kid; SO, I'm wondering if I let Windows 10 install like it keeps begging to do, Will it automatically transfer over ALL my files, and website links? Will I have to Re-enter ALL my user names and passwords on those website links like the "Myhealthy Vet", Ruger Forum, "My Yahoo", "Yahoo Group" and a whole slew of others I don't visit every day or week? How about my photo links, files and stuff?

Wow! All that snooping is likely to put a crimp into the plans of those who view a lot of online porn.

Or perhaps it'll put a crimp into the plans of those who view a lot of online guns and tactical gear... I sure hope you're not part of the "Why are you concerned if you're not doing anything wrong" crowd...

What could possibly go wrong? It's from Microsoft. :?

I'm not a puter whiz either, how do you know when 10 is begging to be downloaded?

I lost all my files when I did the windows 10 update several months back, window 10 also has lots more adds, so it makes my computer load web pages slower, plus since installing my computer started freezing several times a day.

One of the "updates for Win 7 Pro added a little Icon at the bottom of the screen; It pops up ever now and then trying to get me to up date;
I THINK I'LL STICK with 7 Pro.

Installed the GMX Control Panel and DUMPED the Win 10 Icon at the bottom of my screen !!
Happy Dance , Happy Dance !!!

I've installed 10 in our three computers as well as for a couple of friends' machines. No problem, it loaded and operated fine. BIG improvement over 8 to me. You'll need to do some reorganizing to get things where you want them afterward, and it does take a good bit of time to do the update. I didn't lose any files but I did back up the computer first just in case. All in all it was well worth it for me.

Anyone anywhere who thinks that what they put on the internet is private is horribly disappointed. If you post it, it is free. No doubt, no question. Windows 10,8, Vista what ever. It isn't, no matter how much you wish it was so.

I am at 8.1 and haven't upgraded. I hate upgrades because it takes work. I work enough. I relax at home. I don't see how you computer guys do it. At home at work, it would make me puke. I deal with mechanics on aircraft, nothing to do with this stuff, accept the software but it isn't even close to current software and displays.

I have now upgraded 4 laptops to Windows 10. Yes, it will transfer all of your files, and you will find them right where you left them. If you keep using whatever browser you are using now, your links will stay on your Favorites list; if you go with Microsoft Edge, the first time you go to your Favorites list it will ask if you want to import your Favorites. Tell it yes, and it's done.

I will also mention that if you are in a hurry you will get antsy during the process as it takes quite a while to download and install all the changes. How long will depend on your connection speed. It took me about 2 hours for each machine, and a lot of that time I was wondering if anything at all was going on.

It puts up this little notice thing begging me to install it NOW !!

Microsoft REALLY REALLY REALLY wants everyone to upgrade to 10. And the price is Zero which makes me suspicious. Nobody gives anything away for free, and especially not Microsoft! I just have to wonder what the hell they're gettin' out of it.

I have not installed Windows 10 as yet because I really like Windows 7, have no problems whatsoever and am comfortable with it. I suppose the time will come when I am forced to install it. Does anyone know if/how my Windows Live Mail will be affected? Will I have to go through a new mail set-up process?
