In the thread LYRICS FROM A FRIEND I posted about hearing "my Mama singing...."

When I was very little, I called her "Mama" then as I got older and more sophisticated, I called her "Mom" and referred to her as "my Mother."

I'm 82 now and have reverted to "Mama."

I always called mine, " Ma", and we had a great relationship.

I hate to think what would have happened if I had called my mother "Ma" in the presence of my Dad!

My mother is “Ma”. Her parents were “Dad & Grandma”. Great Grandparents were “Memere and Papere”

My father was “Daddy”. His parents were Nana and Ed.

I met all of them except Ed who died before I was born. I don’t remember Nana. My Ma & Grandma are the only ones still alive.

Mine were Mama and Daddy. Sometimes in reference to my parents they are Mom and Dad. As a young single man(?) I hired on with the same company my Daddy worked at. My supervisor happened to know of my Dad and one time he made the statement "Hey Bob, I know yer 'old man''. To him Said,"I never called him 'my Old man" and I'll kick yer azz if I ever hear you call him that again". At first he sounded like he had a mouthful of raw mush in his mouth, then he turned around and walked off.

When I was just a little kid I called her momma. After I got older I started calling her Mom and still do.

My mom is 89 years old now and still sharp as a tack. Mom retired from driving a school bus when she was 83. When dad died 5 years ago mom got her CCW permit and she was 84 at the time. She didn't use to worry about safety when going out when dad was alive but now when she goes to the store or where ever in her Jeep she's got dad's old S&W .38 with her.
