Anybody got a single .41 mag round they would sell me? I am doing a write-up on the Herters .401 Powermag, and would like a .41 mag to picture it with, for comparison.

Mike

MIke, I would suggest you visit your LGS and borrow a loaded round for your photo shoot. Make a friend.

The cost of the hazmat fee for shipping one round from person-to-person (and back) is pretty high considering the venture. Of course, as simple an act as it seems, mailing a live round (or not following the hazmat procedures for the common carrier) would be committing a federal crime compounded by crossing state lines, and neither the forum nor any law-abiding person would advise/condone that here.

Drop in to your local range or gun/ammo store and borrow the round(s) you are looking for. That's the legal way. And you'll likely make a longtime contact for future articles!

He doesn't need a live round. He needs a case with a bullet seated to proper depth. Depending on what pictures he wants maybe with an expended primer. There are plenty on eBay that sell these sorts of items as dummy rounds, they ship regular 1st class mail.

Mike, if you're okay with a 215gr cast or PC cast bullet, I can put one in a case and mail it to you. Let me know what you think.

Nika, you are right bout what I need, and your offer would be in line with that - thank you. Cast is what I would use, were I to shoot .41 mag, so that would be perfect. Let me know how much I would owe you for the shipping, bullet and brass, probably don't even need a primer.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Thought of asking to borrow one from a store, but we only have a couple of smaller shops in my area, one would be out of the question, I don't know the other folks, but not sure i want to "owe" them much.

I am probably going to need a 10 mm round, also, but since I will probably have a future need for this caliber, I'll buy a box.

Thanks VERY much. I'll try (editors don't always take my advice) to give you credit for your help in the photo, and let you know when/where it appears. Jsut an assignment now, with no deadline.

mikewriter,,, if you need any other dummy rounds,,, I can easily load up whatever. I have over 60 different calibers I can offer.

Contender, thanks for the offer! As I pursue this subject further, I may be on the hunt for a .38/40 round.

Mike

Nika, got the dummy round today, and it looks real good - thanks! Still witing for my .401 Herter's ammo to arrive, and if Contender fixes me up with a "display only " .38-40 round, I will be in excellent shape for photo support.

No military surplus needs, as of yet, but thanks. Contender, no hurry. Right now I am waiting on some .401 Herters ammo I ordered form Bernard Nelson at GAD. Doesn't answer my inquiries about what the delay is, now I hear he seems to be bad about cashing checks (he cashed mine quickly enough) but never sending ammo. Anybody else heard this? I may have to look into legal remedies, I guess. Can't udnerstand anybody accepting monet for a service, and not intending to provide the service.

Nika, I wish you'd let me pay for the shipping and component costs for that dummy round?

Mike
