On another board,,, I got called a troll & even compared to George Soros. All for defending Ruger & trying to offer a different viewpoint on Rugers & how they are built.
We all know that some of the Rugers we've gotten have had to go back to Ruger for repairs or corrections.
We have all seen posts about Ruger QC & the sometimes apparent lack of it.

I was trying to get the folks there to actually do as I have done,,, study the business,,, the percentages of returns vs. production numbers. And to actually go & discuss their issues with the upper management folks at Ruger. You can do this by going to SHOT,,,, OR,,, the NRA Convention. Or even to a smaller scale,,, one of the other shows that Ruger factory has a booth.

I will admit to getting long winded in my discussions,,, but (in my opinion) was never disrespectful to any member there. And knowing how sometimes the written word can be mis-interperted, I even apologized in the event I upset anyone.

Now,,, this other Forum is a good one,, and I enjoy it some as I've learned things there. But a few folks were bashing Ruger pretty hard,,, yet from what I could glean,,, they also still own Rugers. All I wanted was for them to look at things from a different angle,, and study the very same things I did.

And I got called a troll by a few others.

And I'm sure a few folks here may have seen that discussion,,, and if so,,, go look at my post from this morning. I've invited them to call me,,, visit me,,, or even come to my East Coast Gathering. I am NOT mad at any of them. Just a little surprised at being called a troll. Kinda funny really. All for defending Ruger & offering a different viewpoint.

Well for Pete's sake ...... quit injecting LOGIC into the equation!

Easy to argue and "bad-mouth" stuff on the 'net. Much more of that around than good, honest comments. Most common are those bad mouthing something they actually have no experience with.

Oh, and they probably don't want to discuss it with you in person.

Obviously I am right about everything, so anyone who disagrees with me in the slightest is a troll, or worse. If people would just listen to me I can tell them everything they need to know to live a good, satisfying and productive life, but no....some people actually think that they are smarter than ME!

But back to Ruger. I currently own only four Ruger handguns, but have owned others before. None, I repeat none, have ever given me even the slightest problem in any way, even with less than diligent cleaning and maintenance. My oldest Ruger, the first one I bought is a P97DC that I still have, has never, ever had a single misfire, or FTE or FTF, and while it mostly just sits in my safe I cannot imagine ever selling it. I will admit, that a certain Glock related forum, I have been highly criticized for saying that I much prefer my LC9s, with its superb trigger, to the Glock 26 that I owned and sold. The "Glock fan boys" will likely never forgive me for saying what I did.

A difference of opinion and/or a simple statement of logic can many times cause those receiving the information to believe that one is attempting to start an argument. Contrary to what is shown on TV; there is NO "EASY" button.

That is the best line I have heard for quite a while. :D :D :D Many noobs probably wouldn't understand.

It's like that on every forum, if you want to see 30 plus pages of arguing over what brand is better go to a archery forum. It's just ridiculous, every person has their own brand that they like. some can keep a open mind when discussing other brands and some are to closed minded to possibly learn a thing or two...

The more I read the internet the more I think many peoples idea of intelligent debate & discourse it to cover their ears with their hands & scream Naaa, Naaa, Naaa anytime anyone says something they don't agree with. I wouldn't worry about it.

With that said troll sounds pretty good compared to some things I have been called in the past.

But, but.........................Tyrone, you is a troll! Oh, sorry...................guess I misunderstood the post, thought we were talking about physical appearance there fer a second................love ya man, Coogs.

Probably the reason I only visit this forum and have left all the other gun forums alone. Seems it's too easy to through mud on the internet and some people like to. I've gotten splashed more than once over in the political section here.. when I go over there now I put my rain coat on first. As for some other folks calling you a troll.. maybe they should check out the definition of the same for on the internet.... I think it has more to do with starting a debate just to argue 'endlessly' about something... it has nothing to do with giving a different opinion.

This was always my understanding of the word "troll" as well.. At least that's how it was explained to me.. :?:

A troll, posts something, not because they care about the topic.. But because they just want to start a fight, or stir the pot to create an issue with people..

Is this the wrong definition of the word?

contender,

You know that I don't post often... mostly a lurker by choice. I am a nobody. But I am sorry that others have completely and falsely mislabled you.

When I first read that somebody labeled you as a... "troll"... I laughed out loud at the absurdity of the claim.

Then I thought and got mad 'bout it. Over the years... contender... to me, you have been the greatest help and source of information... along with many others who have benefited from yore wisdom. As a contributor to ANY message board... you are the best. Anywhere.

Don't let it get you down. It could not ever be true... it is not within you to be a troll.

I was thinking he was more in the line of one of them Sasquach things what runs around the woods in North Carolina; I mean them bare feet on ROCKS should tell you ever thing.

:D :D :D

Thanks for the support,,,, & especially the good laughs!

Actually, I wasn't upset,,, nor mad. I actually thought; "Wow,,, REALLY???" I do try hard to be helpful,, courteous,,, and respectful. Sadly,,, some folks do not wish to be open minded enough to truly look at a big picture of something they are passionate about.
Kinda like when a marriage fails.
There are 3 sides to every story. His side,,, her side,,, and the truth somewhere in the middle. And when a person has only one viewpoint,,, without looking at the other side,,, they often get very jaded & defensive. But,, many of us can easily look back in our lives,, look at somebody we know,,, (or even ourselves,) study things objectively & w/o emotion,, and actually understand things that during the actual event were NOT visible to any deeply involved.

So,, I had to chuckle a bit at being called a troll. I knew many of you here would get a laugh or 3.

And Jack,,, trolls do wear shoes sometimes too. Only a real man can go barefoot! :D :D Love ya Jack!

Ok,, I just took a short break,, and looked at the other Forum & thread. It appears that I may have mis-understood who was being called a Troll. A couple of the nice gentlemen with whom I'd been discussing things were NOT offended by me. But apparently when the troll label was applied,, it MAY have been directed at someone else.

It goes back to how the typed word is written & understood by the readers.

Still I got a real chuckle at the thought of me being a troll.
