A couple weeks ago I told jpickar I would take his scope he had listed. Right after that my daughter hit a deer and totalled her car. I informed jpickar I needed to back out of the deal and he told me I needed to keep my word to buy it. Even though I have sold a few things here since then I am not able to get $120 ahead to pay for the scope. Fixing her car is costing more then once estimated. I cannot get the scope. I am sorry

You should be fine for backing out. It's obvious that you've been having to sell much of your edged stuff so don't give it a second thought. Prayers to you so that you get all your affairs in order. God bless

Nothing to be sorry for in my book-A sign of a good man to make his family a priority

Really, hope your daughter is okay and you get everything taken care of. I can tell you right now I would not get too bent over what you did... would not do any good anyway.

So, your rep is still good with me, for what ever that is worth.

pawpawcamo,

You have your priorities straight. Stuff happens sometimes and you have to re-adjust your priorities.

Please email or PM me jpickar's contact information. I will buy that scope from him and he can send it to you. Should be a win-win for everybody.

I ran into this on GB and I took the guy's word on it. Stuff happens.

Nice group of guys and gals on this site, that's fer sure and fer certain.

PawPaw,
You did the right thing .Family comes first. If the tables were turned,I'm would Hope He Would do the same. No need to appoligze in my book.
Lou

Jpickar should have let this go. Like others have said, stuff happens. Pawpaw, I don't see the need for you to apologize. Jpickar possibly, but not you...

You can not be faulted for putting your family first during unforeseen circumstances.

Salute to Danjet500 (Matt?). One Matt to another, class act on your part sir.

Matt

I have to agree. Despite good intentions, stuff happens for all of us. We all need to cut our neighbor some slack at such times.

I've had the pleasure to meet Matt once, at the Tulsa Gun Show 2 or 3 years ago. Seem like a pretty good guy to know.

Pawpawcamo, pm me your address and I will send you $100 to help. Least I can do for someone that sacrificed much for me to have the freedom to earn a living, own firearms and participate in a forum like this. God's blessings to you my friend!!!

I have dealt with bigbore45 and he is a great guy to deal with. The only flaw that I can find is that he is a Penn State fan!!!!! Sorry Matt just could not resist.

Now this is why this a great site of human beings

First, hope the family is doing well

Second, the offered well wishes, offers made regarding the scope etc...

Third, base on your family situation I would not need an apolgoy if I was selling it, your famliy issue explanation would be enough to say no problem

Fourth, great people here, have dealt with many. Many, many fine folk here

Hmmmmmmmm.....Well not exactly how it was told to me. :(

Nothing like going on line to belittle a guy you tried to pressure to lower my price!! I still feel like I was being scammed!!! :x I do not like being scammed.

You really should let this go, you're not making yourself look any better.

I hesitate to wade in but jpickar is getting a lot of assumptions aimed at him that I, nor any of you, can be certain about. It just could be a misunderstanding in the communications between the two. We all have dealt with indecisive buyers and you can't look people in the eye over the internet. For one... had I had to back out of a deal it would be private until the other party took it to public. And had someone backed out of a deal with me I would have simply let it go unless he made it public. So I think the prudent thing to do is to assume the best of BOTH parties and stay out of it. No one but them knows how it really is. And I think its very possible that we are wrong in getting involved in this.

Sounds like on big misunderstanding between the parties to me
cphilip hit the nail on the head. :?

It goes both ways. I have posted "I'll take it" on here before, only to have the other party back out. I did not announce it to the forum, I let it drop. It all comes down to integrity, even though circumstances do come up. when they do, they should be dealt with in private, and not posted publically.

It appears that pawpawcamo1958 posted publicly only after private communication reached an impasse, according to his post. It also appears that he was looking for reasurance from his peers due to feeling guilty, again according to his post.
Nobody made any assumptions at all. Everyone encouraged
pawpawcamo1958 and attempted to quell his feeling of embarrassment and guilt for having to back out. It sounds as though the assumptions were made when he was accused of belittleing someone when actually, he never mentioned a word of that.
