I added a Ruger 22 Revolver NR-5 to my collection today.

I have been looking at Ruger Single-Six .22's online and thought I wanted one in Stainless, but then I was in the gun shop this afternoon and seen this one.

After I picked it up I knew that I had to have it. I love my Ruger Mark III Hunter in Stainless, but after seeing this Single-Six in person I think the blued and wood handles just look right.

I have not fired it yet, but man it feels good in my hands.

I hope to get to the range tonight with it.

This is a new gun, but I don't see the NR-5 listed on the Ruger site anymore.

I see the date on the envelope that has the fired round in it is dated 10/12/2004. The gun shop had a lot of new Ruger handguns on hand. I guess this one had been sitting around for a few years.

Anyway glad I found it today. :)

Edited to add: You may have noticed the Ruger keychain. The gun dealer handed that to me after I bought the revolver. I'm going to tell my wife I got a free gun with the purchase of a key chain today, lol....

Congratulations on your purchase. I believe the Ruger Single Six to be the best value for the dollar among any of the available rimfire revolvers. I love the blued guns too. I have a KRN5, the stainless version of your gun. It is probably the most accurate handgun I have, and I also have a blued NR4 with adj. sights and it too is a great little shooter. Have fun at the range. Mine really shoots 22 magnums especially well. Ruger sells nice holsters for the 5.5 bbl. length. Good luck! :D

That's how it begins. They are too fun.

You could use a standard pants belt, but most pants have a belt loop exacty on the right hip.

Yes that is the one I have for my 5.5. Works great, good quality IMO. I also got one from Ruger a few years ago for my 4 5/8 SS. Now very hard to find. I bought a (cheap) heavy duty belt to use as I find standard pants belts to be a bit light weight to handle the holster/gun. You are going to love your Ruger more as you use it. Careful or you might be tempted to buy another Single Six or a Bearcat! Friend of mine has one in every bbl. length! :mrgreen:

Got another few hundred rounds fired in it today.

I really like everything about the single action.

I was not sure how I would like loading and unloading a revolver one bullet at a time, but I really enjoy it.

I was also not sure how I would like having to cock the hammer before every shot. But it's all good and very enjoyable.

Maybe it's just because it's all so new to me yet, but at this time I would say it's more enjoyable loading the single-six then it is loading a magazine for my Mark III.

Between the three Rugers I have at this time, RS9 and the Mark III being the other two I would say I like the trigger pull of this .22 single-six best.
