How Many Rounds Do you CC?

Curious how many think 6, or 5, is enough vs how many need to carry extra mags when out and about.

Anywhere from 5 to 11 in the weapon 0 to 3 reloads depending on numerous factors.

It's a matter of how much stuff I want to carry around. I don't wear tactical pants so I generally just have a couple of pockets that I don't want to load up with ammo.
In the truck of course is different.
Just my opinion, if I can't handle it with five or six rounds then I don't need to be involved in it.
In most cases the best defense is running away.

6 in the little rubber speed strip.

First plan of action if self defense is
required is run away and take cover

Depends what I'm carrying and where I'm carrying.
If carrying concealed running errands or just out and about town its either 5 or 8 depending on the gun.
If open carrying out in the woods/fields/farm/WMAs/etc...I will have a full size gun and usually 15 in the mag and one in the pipe....I can no longer climb a tree or outrun a pack of nasty feral dogs.

As much as I want. But, really you should have a fully loaded firearm and 1 reload. Some don't carry an extra, that's on them.

Depends on the setting. Rural: whatever the gun holds and probably one reload. Urban: whatever the gun holds and 1-2 reloads; one on my person and one in the vehicle.

One exception was when I lived in SW AZ and was out hunting coyotes with an AR-15. I carried one 30-round magazine for coyotes, and two 30-rounders clipped together loaded with defense ammo (and a handgun). On the way to-and-from the hunting site, the rifle was loaded with defense ammo; while hunting, with hunting ammo. And this was 8-12 years ago, when things were 'calmer' on the border! There was still a lot of drug trafficking and such going on, and I didn't want to be undergunned if I ran into trouble. Fortunately, all I ever encountered were rattlesnakes and 4-legged coyotes.

I pocket carry a 642 with Rem 158 SWCHP+P’s and a little tobacco pouch holding two five round strips with Sig Sauer 125 HP+P’s. These have a more rounded profile to aid reloading.

Depends on what I'm carrying. Doctor and hospital visits usually an S&W M80 and two speedloaders. Currently only one as I lost the other and haven't found it. If I'm carrying the Colt Combat Commander, an 8 round magazine with one up the pipe and two ten shot Wilsons in various pockets. Sometime I switch the M60 with a Walther PPK/s .380 with two spare magazines, sometime three spares. Only rarely do I carry a Manhurin PP in .32ACP with one mag in the gun and three spares. Not much faith in that popgun even if James Bond likes the caliber.

I carry a S&W 649-3. edc. It's to get me out of trouble, not into a firefight.
That said, I carry a speed loader in my pocket, just in case.

If it takes more than 5 rounds, I still have a 4 inch Buck to dampen their enthusiasm.
Past that, I'm hosed.

I typically carry either H&K VP9 or Walther PPQ in 9mm, both are great. One magazine in the pistol and one reload.

Glock 32 - 1 extra 15 round magazine
Glock 30 10 round + 1 extra 13 round magazine
Sig p365 1 12 round magazine and 2 12 round magazines.

This is a hold over from my PD days. I believe my chances of a shoot out are reduced since my retirement, but old habits die hard.

For EDC, fairly often, it'll be a sig 365 with a 10 round magazine in the gun and two 15 round spares in holder in pocket. Different guns, different round counts. Same with different situations such as city vs woods.

9+1in 9mm my Sig P-365; same in my Springfield XDM 45 acp. Extra clip in the car. That's my EDC. When in the woods, fifteen in my G20 or 6 in my OM Blackhawk 45 Colt.

Lately I have been carrying a Max-9. So 10+1 in the pistol & a 12 round spare magazine. If I am bothering with carrying a pistol it is very little more bother to put a spare mag on my off side.
If for some reason I'm not carrying my Max-9 my next up would a S&W M&P 2.0 40 Compact 4". If carrying it I have 13+1 in the gun with a 15 round reload.

Glock 43 with Taran tactical +2 on carry and spare for 17 rounds total.

Last few weeks I’ve been enjoying the lighter S&W 642 with spare Blanchi Speed strip.

Commonly 10+1 in the pistol and 10 round extra mag on belt. When I carried the SP101, I kept two speed loaders in my vest pocket.
When I was working and spending several days per week on the road, I also had a 300AAC 'PDW' in the pickup along with a spare 20 round magazine. In the console was 50 rounds of 9mm and 20 rounds of 300 ammo.
Overkill? Maybe but it didn't cost anything to haul it around even though it was never needed.

I'll admit that I carry one handgun, and almost never carry an extra mag or speed strip. So sometimes the 5 rounds in the 642 is all that I have with me, but more commonly it is the 8 rounds in the LC9s in my pocket holster. I already have enough in my pockets (wallet, keys, pocket knife, phone and the one handgun) that I have to keep my belt really tight without adding more ammo.

I know its possible that I will be attacked by a crowd of 20 armed thugs, but I think it highly unlikely. I do not feel under armed even when the only thing I have with me is my 642 with 5 rounds of 38+p.

When the bullets were flying, I never felt I'd wasted the effort required to carry 2x the amount of ammo that most thought adequate. I still follow that path. :unsure:

No, having a spare reload can be defended easy with a good lawyer. As simple as having a car without any spare tire.
