Do you guys consider belt loop location and number of loops for CC when buying pants?

Help Support Ruger Forum:

I wear Pro Rodeo Wranglers 100% of the time. Literally the only pants in my closet. The belt loop that's at 3 o'clock goes behind my holster, i.e. put the belt through one slot on the holster, then through the belt loop on the Wranglers, then through the other holster slot. Keeps the holster pretty well locked in place with just a little room for fore and aft adjustment. This for high-ride, strong side carry with a 1911 or my S&W CSX if I'm "going light". (no, im not a lefty, its the mirror thing)

I have 5-pocket Lee jeans in blue, plus khaki and grey colors (Lee stopped making those colors). Have some Wrangler 5-pocket blue jeans, too. Lee and Wrangler both have 7 loops, which I strongly prefer. My Wrangler jeans are the most durable of all of my pants.

I have a few pair of American Eagle 5-pocket stretch-waist jeans (multiple colors). They're 5-loop jeans (not my preference) and the zipper is a bit too short for easy access (if you know what I mean). Plus their denham is thinner than Wranglers/Lees, so they tend to wear out sooner.

I also have and like some 5.11 and Mountain Khaki pants (with 6 or 7 loops). Their material is khaki (almost canvas) rather than denham. I like their fitments. They have the 5-pocket features plus additional "hidden" pockets that I don't need or use. But they're a bit more upscale than jeans, so I can wear them instead of slacks.

I stopped buying blue jeans a few years back and am working off my existing inventory. My inventory of jeans has to accommodate my waist size, which varies (by season) between 34 and 36 inches. Damn holiday season sweets.

If I can catch Duluth Flex Ballroon Jeans on sale that's what I like. Those and the Cargo pants. I wear iwb left side and holster slides right up to loop at about 3:30. Comfortable, durable but damn expensive. Really deep front pockets. For a quick outing I can clip my defender leather holster to the pocket and my hellcat w/compensator won't bottom out.

I have mostly Levis, but they don't have enough loops. I usually end up skipping the one at 3:00.

Wranglers have the best number, I think.

This ^^^

I have one daughter that buys me Levis whenever she gifts me pants. I don't have the heart to say that I prefer Wranglers, partially because of fit but equally because they have the two more belt loops.

I wear Carhartt jeans. Nothing else seem to properly fit my dad body. They have a denim rugged flex utility jean. They ride a bit below the waist which works perfectly for my belly without looking sloppy. They have a pair of right side thigh pockets, perfect for my cell. There's a single left side thigh pocket that carries a double stack mag comfortably. And plenty of loops, including one at 3:00 that centers my holster.

I also have used 5:11 pants but they're a bit pricey and I really don't need the dressier look that they provide.

Kuhl makes some really nice pants, but they only fit me well when I was thinner.

6gunsonly explained the location of belt loop and holster better than me. Putting the belt through the 1st holster slot than belt through the pants loop and last through rear holster slot really keeps holster in place, holster lays flat. That style of holster will never come off belt. Different pants might shift place holster slightly more forward or back. I have used other holsters than the pancake style and found the holsters slide on belt when drawing the gun. Thats never good to have a shifting or sliding holster when drawing the gun.

I almost excusively wear jeans, Carhardt and Wrangler seem to work the best for me, Levis are ok, Kirklands from Costco don't work for me that well.
For those of you who trend towards the Grande side.. try Berne jeans. Similar to Carhartt, less expensive and really nice customer service.

I agree with Bob Wright on the Wrangler thing. My belt of choice is 1-3/4" wide and made from very heavy leather. That purty-much dictates jeans because most slacks don't have loops that wide. As a matter of fact, the belt slots on many CCW-type holsters are not that wide either....Such is life when one chooses to carry a serious sidearm. Not complaining, just sayin'.

Wranglers work best for me as well, I use a Core Essentials belt that is the best carry belt I've ever used, I used to buy strictly leather belts and would end up replacing them every couple years when they got too soft.

Since I have carried concealed in my pocket for the last 29 years, the deciding factor is the size of the front pocket. I find the leading brands of "tactical" pants to be adequate. For several of those years I sometime carried outside pants on the belt, but a "shoot me first" vest generated too many questions from dumb people.

I only carry light weight guns. 95% Appendix Carry. I use to buy Wrangler but moved to

Levi Strauss Signature Gold Men's Slim Straight Jeans

If I carry OWB they have me covered as well. I am OCD about size and fit and comfort. These are the best I have ever worn.

I've worn the same jeans for years. I paid more attention to where the belt loops were when I carried OWB. The past few years I've carried IWB & it is less of a concern.

I have tried wrangler, Lee, Carhartt and Sam's club jeans and they don't fit me worth a dern. Unfortunately Levis do so that's what I wear. But, a lot of times I wear overalls instead. I have a few belts I like. I do have a "carry" belt that is thicker than I sometimes wear.
Summertime, it's 90% shorts and I hate wearing a belt with shorts.

Never thought about the belt loop placement... but I don't buy pants very often... and most of what I wear during the day is pretty well worn. I do have some long pants that seem the gig line is wrong and my undees like to fall down now... all this I have discovered is from getting older and things shifting.... I realized the strangest thing a few years back... I would put my pants on and tighten my belt and then a half hour later have to tighten it another notch and then a half hour later do the same thing again... seems the items inside of me were shifting.... I try suspenders some but they don't seem to help a lot....
