How many chainsaws?

The thread about chainsaw cases got me to thinking. Just how many chainsaws do I have? Well currently it's four. An old, and my favorite, McCollough 24", Stihl 18", and two smaller electrics with 14" bars.

I figure a chainsaw is like any other tool and you need to have the right one for the task at hand. While the big ole McCollough would do just about everything I need doing, those light electric ones sure are nice for little jobs that are over and done with quickly.

So, how many chainsaws do you have?

I am recently down to just two, a midsize Stihl, and a little bitty Stihl.

I had a Mac 10-10 for 40 years. Hard starting, heavy, and deafening, but the power of a V-8 in a firewood saw. Recently gave it away to somebody that needed a saw. I also had a Craftsman. Too many saws. Sold it.

And I'm recently converting everything to Stihl, if for nothing else, parts are always available everywhere, and if I need service, I drop it off at the Stihl dealer, and it'll be fixed without question.

I have two. I have a Poulan that I've had for about 15 years. It seemed like I always wound up spending as much time fooling with it as using it. When the winds off the hurricane came through last year & it was pouring rain a Sweet Gum tree next to my driveway broke in half. The top half blocked the driveway. I went to get my saw to clear it only to learn that it wouldn't crank. I wound up digging out an old bow saw & getting things down small enough for me to drag off the driveway.

I got tired of fooling with the Poulan. I won a Home Depot gift card at the company Christmas party & wound up putting some money with it & bought an Echo chain saw with a 20" bar. It is a huge step up from the old Poulan.

Hi This made me laugh I owned a power equipment dealership for a few years and I don't know how many saws I actually own but I have lent so many out I don't know where most of them are and now the laughing part I just had to borrow a small liming saw from my old partner to do some tree work in my back yard

After wearing out two McCullough's clearing mesquite trees off a 30 acre plot I bought a Stihl.............never looked back. I also have an electric Poulan extendable tree saw that someone gave me.

I've got 4 - 12" Homelite, 14" WORX corded electric, 14" Husqvarna, 18" Poulan. I also have an electric chain sharpener, got it after paying to have 8 chains sharpened (cost as much to sharpen the chains once as it would cost to buy it - so I bought one and sharpen all my chains, my families and friends chains now).

One of these days I am going to get a Stihl - always say I'm going to but my saws keep working great - the Homelite (old got it from my dad) is cold blooded though but once you get it warmed up it runs great.

Just one, one of the old yellow McCulloughs that is over 30 years old but still runs great and is very powerful for it's size. Just has a 18" bar on it but would pull a longer one. Bet anything that though I haven't cranked it in months, I could have it running in 6 pulls or less right now.

UH, don't really know. Chainsaws are like firearms, you never have "enough". Are you asking about the running ones, the "work in progress" ones, or the stricltly parts donors OR a total?
I'll just list those running today:
ECHO: 5000 (2x), 4600(3x), 346 (1x), 400(1x)
Stihl: 011 (4x)
McCullough: 610 (2x) AND the all time classic a "last of the series 10-10" with a 710 jug and piston. Talk about get up and cackle, this one is the "Mac Daddy". When this old dog starts, everyone stops to look.

I carry a full size chainsaw in an OWB holster and a small one as a BUCS (Back Up Chain Saw) on my ankle. When lost in the forest and attacked by hostile trees I want to be fully prepared.

Actually, being a city dweller, I own only one, a small electric but it does the job for limb trimming and other small jobs. If a tree needs to be taken down I call the pros.

2. 1 Partner 650 18in bar 65cc motor chews through wood like nobodies business.
2 Stihl 180 for general purpose usualy on the quad to clear the trails

I own 2. Husqvarna 455 rancher 20" and a Husqvarna 395 36". When I run the 395 I can feel it the next day.

Well, I admit to having 4 of them. An older Homelite small one, rarely use it. A pair of Husky's, and a Stihl. Just bought a Stihl for my oldest,, as a birthday present. We got him his first one,, an 026.

Two husqvarna ranchers, 50 and 55 with 20" blades. One Stihl pole saw and one electric for the wife. Usually use them for trimming up around the house, fire wood at the hunting camp and always a necessity during hurricane season.

I have 4 that I use. 3 Stihl and 1 Husqvarna.
I have 9 antique chainsaws that will run with some work but they just set on a shelf to look at.
Some of them are so heavy I think Paul Bunyan would have a hard time using them.
Then I have a pile of wore out saws that are in pieces.

Just a 16" electric for me.
Gas chain saws, and to lesser degree, snow blowers, quite frankly scare the bejeezers out of me.
I've known, and have heard of, way too many ripped legs, arms, and faces from chain saws.
One hand degloving accident with a snow blower suffered by the 14 year old son of a friend was enough to also keep me a fan of electric snow blowers.

I have a 20" Poulan Pro I use for most things, a 14" Poulan I use if I know I'm going to be doing a lot of limbing, and a 20" Homelite that I swear I'm going to get around to putting back together, just as soon as I remember how... Just inherited my dad's 20" Husqvarna, that things been a work horse when I've used it in the past. It may become my main saw.

This thread got me thinking. I was planning on just getting rid of the old Poulan. I believe I may get what I need to have it running well & fix it but just leave it sitting without fuel in it is a back up just in case I ever need it. It wouldn't cost much & it might not be a bad idea to have an 18" chain saw available just in case. I do much prefer the Echo though.

Are we talking about Concealed Carry Chainsaws or Open Carry Chainsaws? I had a heck of time finding a IWB holster for my mouse saw.
