How long will this nonsense last?

Times like these really bring out the douche. Fear reigns supreme, and is served well by ignorance.

Holy CENSORED! And I though it was bad when I went to a gun show back in December and some gouger was charging $20.00 for a box of 100 rounds of 22lr CCI Mini-Mag.

And I thought my lgs charging $50.00 for a brick of Remington thunderbolts was out of line.......

That IS out of line....in any economy!

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
It's going to be a vicious cycle! I have read so many comments on several rimfire forums that "as soon as this eases up I' going to stock up." So--since that is the consensus, we will remain "shelves bare" for a long, long time. :( And that ain't no joke!

I agree, as long as you pay those prices, they will keep selling at those prices..."Just say No"!!@

Most are out, the ones that have are rationing 2 each per customer...Ive saw where a certain large chain gun selling is "rationing ARs 1 per Family"...and thats not bull, I called and confirmed!

To stop the cycle of madness, stop the fear mongering and the panic buying....say no and the prices will come down and the availability
will come up! Right now , the manufacturers and the fear mongers are winning...we have the power...just like we do with gas prices...

ever notice when it gets to high people just stop driving and buying as much? hello:) there is your answer..

The $20 per rimfire ammo is still childs play compared to the near two year long reloading component shortages sometime back. Panic buying... just folks that didn't plan ahead for the current shortages just like they didn't plan ahead for any of them that have been common for decades caught with their pants down and will pay dearly for it if they want to shoot at all.

Well before the end of the component shortage locally SR primers was getting $200-$250/1K depending on which when before the shortage they could be bought for less than $30, sometimes on sale for less the $20. Same with brass, and commonly used powders the sky wasn't even the limit. When was the last time you paid $150-$200 for a pound of Plain Jane everyday powder? There is lots of organized/sanctioned match shooting here for all the disaplines at one 10,000+ member private GC in particular... with folks showing up there just to beg, borrow, trade their first born or wife for components since they couldn't compete with no supplies to load with on hand. Maybe only in Vegas, but the folks here are armed and many of them would rather shoot at the matches, any of the many indoor ranges/machine gun ranges or out on the desert than eat.

I haven't been out to see if any rimfire ammo is available or what they might be asking for it locally, but it's a pretty sure thing it would be very high if any is with the match shooters wanting it anyway.

I don't know how long, but I hope it is only a short time. Things will settle down when the Feinstein bill is shot down.

I just took a look at recent SOLD 22lr ammo on Gunbroker in the last 48 hours. Can't believe people are paying 50-60 a box for Fed Automatch. I hope I don't have to pay anywhere near that if/when it's available locally.

And to think 3 months ago people made fun of me for ordering 3 cases of 22 LR (5,000 per case) for $250 a case from CMP:)

this really is nonsense. 22lr is in short supply, but the most I have paid this weekend is $15 for 4 50 rd boxes of Blazer. $10 for a box of 100 CCI Mini mags.

DONT PAY HIGH PRICES FOR RIMFIRE AMMO. You are only encouraging these thieves.

Status of gun industry, if you do not have the ammo and guns you will need in next year or so, be prepared to pay extremely high prices or wait: Here is what I saw a couple of days ago.

Attention F.B. fans: to follow will be several IMPORTANT Info updates about the status of the gun industry currently, followed by an INVENTORY UPDATE: We traveled to Texas for Industry meetings concerning the shortages, here's what we were told.

Smith & Wesson: running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages.

RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days.

FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1.

Remington-Maxed out!

Armalite: Maxed out.

DPMS: Can't get enough parts to produce any more products.

COLT: Production runs increasing weekly...bottle necked by Bolt carriers.

LWRC:Making only black guns, running at full capacity...can't get enough gun quality steel to make barrels.

Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind.

AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/ of 1 BILLION rounds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line.

MAGPUL is behind 1 MILLION mags, do not expect any large quantities of magpul anytime soon.

RELOADERS... ALL Remington, Winchester, CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extras for reloading purposes... it could be 6-9 months before things get caught up. Sorry for the bleak news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months. Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted...

They didn't know when they'd be getting anything back in stock, from magazines to rifles to pistols. Manufacturers were running full-bore, but couldn't come close to keeping up with market demand.

It wasn't just the AR-15s, the AK-pattern rifles, the M1As, and the FALs that were sold out. It really hit me when I realized that the World War-era M1 Garands, M1 carbines, and Enfield .303s were gone, along with every last shell. Ubiquitous Mosin-Nagants—of which every gun store always seems to have 10-20—were gone. So was their ammo. Only a dust free space marked their passing. I've never seen anything like it.

Every weapon of military utility designed within the past 100+ years was gone. This isn't a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war.

You had me till this last part. I find your editorializing disgusting.

This is nothing but panic. I and every other sane person in the country is not going to 'go to war' because you can't buy a 30rnd mag for an AR or you have to have a call to ATF to transfer a gun to a buddy. Are you f'ing serious?

Clownshoes.

Just to set the record straight, I did not editorialize, merely cut and paste from a post elsewhere. I do disagree with your comment about folks buying certain guns because they fear they will be banned, because they are.

Whoever wrote that is one of two things:

#1: A crazy person.

#2: Fueling panic. (May or may not be profiting off said panic)

By cutting and pasting and not siting your source or saying you are doing so... you put their words in your mouth.

As I said, I was fine with the status report till the last line, which totally invalidated any preconceived notions of it being an actual neutral party status report.

I, for one, am a person unprepared for this sort of thing. I typically think of ammo as expensive no matter what. What I mean is, I have to really watch my money. I bought my first hunting rifle this past year, for a little less than twice what I planned on spending (planned: Savage Axis, actual: Ruger No. 1 for $600). I couldn't just buy a case of .308. So, I'm sitting with 30 rounds of .308, and little of my other calibers. I DID manage to find two boxes of Hornady 44 mag for $23/box of 20 out the door. Not too shabby. I was learning, and planning on, slowly stocking up. Well, this latest issue has cramped that "style".

Fortunately, as far as hunting is concerned, I have a 100% kill rate with turkey and deer, so I'm not using a lot in that area. Just no fun target shooting...

just what the antis want folks going against one another, the hunters fearing the target shooters, both of them fearing the military collectors, shooters, even re-enactors....yessir , divide and conquer...call, write, and contact YOUR reps and senators and tell them NO WAY , and do this repeatedly, than VOTE accordingly, and remind them that you DO VOTE !!!you don;t want to pay the prices? then don't, you want to sell your stuff and be a greedy sucker, capitalist, then go ahead, you won't sell ANY of it to ME at "stupid prices".....
I feel real sad and sorry for the folks who live in those places where this has already been going on, and they allowed it :(

I get a real kick out of all the guys who post "I was in the store and they only had four boxes of ammo so I bought 'em all. Howcum there's no ammo?"

  :?

Everyone is guilty to a point but you notice that most of the way out of line prices are being paid by or run way up by folks with no prior bidding history or knowledge of what this stuff should be going for. Furthering the problem as several have previously stated. I was at a store the other day that was bare shelves of everything. A guy just hanging around there was busy telling the unhappy crowd how he had purchased thousands of rounds of several calibers in the past couple of weeks there. Needless to say he was not the most popular fellow after his bragging..

What I dont understand is, why the panic on 22LR? I have not heard any anti-gun even mention the little cartridge.

I remember a buddy telling me they don't need to outlaw guns, just make the ammo too hard to aquire. Back then, I thought, never going to happen. But now?

I have never stocked up on 22LR ammo, I am a target shooter and shoot quite regularly. I have always been able to go and buy a box of 22LR at any time, never needed to stock up on it. Frustrating, I can buy the guns but no ammo. Well it at least gives me a chance to buy the gun I have been wanting for a while ( Browning Buckmark Silhouette in 14" barrel ) just wont be able to shoot it for awhile only have 100 rounds left of 22LR. That just sucks !

After the last go 'round when even the .22 were hard to find, I started buying a box every time I went anywhere that sold it... wife thought I was nuts, but now I feel pretty good about it.

A shame the rest of you folks are suffering.... again.

I have the better part of a brick of them I'll send you if you pay shipping. They are the biggest pieces of crap I have ever tried to use.

Hunter really appreciate the offer but that is the only brand that I would not use ( fear of lead build up )

I bought 3 boxes of Federal 550 round stuff at Walmart the other day for 22.00 per box. 3 box limit. Went to the next Walmart and bought 3-50 round boxes of Federal 9mm for 13.00 per box. They had about 25 trays of Mini Mags for $7.50 each 3 box max. If folks are paying 25.00 per 100 rounds I could do well off what's in my safe but I'd feel guilty as hell to gouge someone. I guess no one forcing anyone to buy, but it still seems wrong.
