The "your favorite burger" thread brought to mind a question that I've had for a long time.
My pick for favorite, In-N-Out, does something I can't figure out when you compare them to the other fast food burger places.
When I go in (or drive through more likely) at In-N-Out they have something like 20 clean cut, mostly high school and college age kids, english speaking, working in the restaurant and from what I understand they pay them like $10.15 an hour to start. Any other fist food place I go to has maybe 3, many times older, barely english speaking folks working there. I don't know what the other places pay but I'm betting, just by listening to the "demand $15 an hour" folks that they're not much above minimum wage.
How does In-N-Out do it and the others, apparently, can't?
