I have a Single-Six I want to have hot blued. I would like it back in a couple months, so a small shop that does quality work is what I'm looking for.
Anybody have a guy in their town that they have used and like the work?

Appreciate any info.

My gunsmith has a guy that does an amazing job. He did a 1903 with some serious rust on it and I am sending him an OM SBH that I want restored. I will see if I can track down his info for you.

Just hearsay but I believe Bobby Tyler is still taking refinish work IF you strip and polish the parts yourself.
Might be worth a phone call.

Heck, I wish you lived closer, I might be tempted to come out of 'retirement', wish I had a nickel for everyone of them old single sixes we did over the years, since the late 1960s and we did ALL the work by hand...when my partner Walt closed up their 'last' shop over here in Mentor ,Oh and put all the tanks and stuff in storage ,kinda came to a halt, we even used the local black oxide companies to just "dip" the small parts we came up with from time to time, in a pinch, matched pretty good and even wore and held up better....last ones we HAD , to have done, Bobby Tyler did for us but he's busier than a one-armed paper hanger, but they came out awesome....good luck:cool::rolleyes:;)

PS, the one you show in the picture above, would be a "piece of cake" to do...(y)(y)

Bobby did an amazing job on a Mohagany boxed SBH for me. It was one that was stored in the box for decades and his cleanup, polishing and bluing made it look original. But it took about 15 months so you’d have to have time.

Thanks all for the leads.
On a recommendation from my LGS, I sent it to Wyoming Armory. The guys there were easy to work with and their work is fantastic.
Two month turn around to boot!
The plum was strong in this one, still very evident.
Thinking about a RW Bisley grip frame:unsure:
Cheers,

Jay, that came back looking great! I love how the plum came through!

RW Bisley? Brass, or aluminum coated to match the bluing?

Ronnie also has OM Bisley hammers and triggers…

Fogle's is tops for me. He made a colt lightning look factory original. He has done several for me.

I am chickening out:rolleyes:
After reading on the site that anyone with a file, sand paper and some "patience" should have no problem fitting the frame, that is NOT for me. Files & sand paper just cost me LOTS of money:ROFLMAO: Ain't gonna do it!
OE frame & grips.

I will try them next time!
Fogle's did a 1903 for me a couple of years ago (sorry I didn't get you the info sooner @JAYDAWG)

When Grandpa Dennis passed, I dealt with his small collection of guns. They were not stored properly, with the 1903 leaning against a bare concrete wall covered in blood. Here are two of the before images:

I've used Glenrock Blue in Glenrock,WY several times. Haven't used them since Phil Filing retired and sold it but I believe he sold it to his apprentice he trained. They always did exceptionally good work and didn't wash out roll marks. From what I was told his apprentice worked for Phil and Di for a long time and learned well.

PS.
I almost sent a gun down to them in Cody but decided to wait until I saw my buddy’s pre-64 they did. Needless to say, I didn’t bring the gun to them.

I've installed quite a few, and have a couple more on order. There is a bit of an art to it, and patience is required. I'd say it takes me about 4 hours if I keep at it. So about a week in "retirement time".🤣

Here's one I recently threw together…

RW Lee Martin XRHybrid with Padauk grips. I've still got to get the frame Cerakoted black. This was a cheap RSS that I scored on GunBroker for about $300.

I've always wondered what a brass grip frame would look like on a really plum mainframe. Someday I might find out, but for now the brass on this NM looks real nice to me… RW Dealer with Micarta grips.
