Morning. Due to shooting side shoulder work my rifle bambi hunting days are over, ( shottie as well ). I have a 357 Blackhawk (1981) and wonder if it can handle the Leverevolution ammo?? I know it isn't really a deer caliber, but its biggest I have. Thanks... Stash P.S. Before you say shoot righty, my right eye is useless.

Yes, the Blackhawk can "handle" the ammo. And many deer have been taken with the .357 mag. Keeping the range realistic and proper shot placement are the key, as with any sort of weapon.

I killed a buck or doe almost every season when I lived in upstate NYS, hunting from a tree stand in the "jungle". Started with an original .357 Bisley 7 1/2" that I brought from Idaho but ultimately settled on a blue half-lug 6" GP-100 that I got used in NYS. Will a .357 kill a deer cleanly? Dam straight it will if you get close and wait for a good angle. Sometimes you have to pass on the longer shots and worse angles. Most of the deer I shot didn't go more than 20 yards after the first shot. None got more than 50. Factory irons but now (10 long years later) I'd mount a red dot sight.

I didn't use premium "deer" ammo after the first two, just 158 gr. Speer Gold Dots.
