Hoping to purchase a M 1 in 45-70

Can anyone tell me if the factory will engrave a new M 1, and could I order directly from the factory, or through a dealer. I've thought about this long enough, I'm ready to pull the trigger.... so to speak! Thank you.

Are you proposing to buy an M1 Garand in .45-70 ?

Sorry, but it ain't gonna happen. A Garand is a .30-06..... some have been modified to fire .308. No way would it ever handle a rimmed cartridge like the .45-70. To the best of my knowledge, nobody produces them any more, so you would need to score a used one.

Given this is the RugerForum, I am going to assume the OP means a Ruger No.1. Since the Design Studio is no longer a part of Ruger and the engravers are at Baron, I would suggest getting the rifle you want and have Baron do the work you want. Other than that option, you can find any number of other master engravers to do the work.

If you get a #1 45/70 you will love it I have more fun with mine than a man can stand if you reload try trail boss 16 gr. with 300 gr. lead bullets. It's like shooting a 410. Oh and it drops deer real well.

You should not have a problem finding a 1S in 45/70. It was made from 1970 through last year; dropped this year. Still quite a few NIB ones around.
Be picky and look for good wood. Good Luck.
