homemade grips

Has anyone made their own replacement grips for a ruger security six? how hard can it be if you have the originals? anyone have any tips?

Made a few. The hardware was swaped over from the plastc ones. My ho made ones were modified after a while. It's not that hard to make with a little time and my Harbor Freight belt sander and my old Walker Turner Drill Press.

I bought a set of UNFINISHED Grips from a guy called " 6 shot " on the
speacilty pistol forum.
Do to work sending me out of town MANY times since. I havent finished them YET,
But they are coming out just like I want them.
They came slightly larger than my frame and Thick enough to do what I wanted.

I just had a Brain-Fart ! Have been wanting to make a pair of grip panels for my Bearcat. Have looked and looked, but the only raw materials I have come across have been very expensive. Then it hit me, Hardwood Flooring! I just bet that I could come across a piece of Hardwood Flooring big enough to suit my project for minimal cost. They will be ho/me made by me. Guess dat mak me da ho!! tee hee !! :lol:

I've seen them on eBay as a set with free shipping (search "Gun GRIP SCREWS Escutcheon"). I think that makes them one of the best deals around, but if you don't like eBay's politics you can get what you need here:
