Hollow bolt

My 257 Robert's hollow bolt. Fine shooting rifle!

Of all the gun shows I've been to and all the shops I've visited, I've only laid eyes on one that I was aware of. Thinking flat bolts were more common.
Does it have a s/n prefix?

So when did the hollow bolt handle come out and how long did they last?

I thought those were called FLAT bolt but ….. I'm not much of a rifle guy

the hollow bolts were a long action. They came out just after the flat bolt long action. The short action flat bolts were probably produced the same time as the hollow bolts.

Most hollow bolts have sights. I have heard that the ones without sights were sold to dealers for selling large amounts of m77's so they are pretty rare.

The flatbolt Long actions were first. Then Ruger started making hollow bolt long actions. Winchester didn't like them doing that so Ruger went to the Round bolt.
Hollowbolts are 70- prefix only. From my experience, it looks like the hollowbolt variation may be slightly rarer than the flatbolt long action. Neither are easy to come by!!
