High school parties these days

This was back in the late 1950s when this brother and sister decided to have a party every Saturday night. Mom and dad were present but stayed out in the kitchen. They trusted us with good reason. The idea of the parties was it gave us a place to go and have fun. Think of it as being at the Cleaver's home. The thing is these parties continued long after graduation. Some had reached the age of majority, that is 21 years old. Still very little booze at least until New Year's Eve 1959 IIRC. That one did get a bit on the wild side.

I remember bringing a tow strap and can koozie to a party. Usually used both before the night was over.

I don't understand people who go for walks and have their ear buds in. I want to hear what's around me.
People that go into the woods and take their dog with them, dog scares away wildlife, the people have to constantly fuss over the dog and let it disrupt other people's enjoyment. I love dogs, but not when I'm trying to watch the elk herd or that elusive owl

Same.
No regrets

Agreed....some of my best memories.

I always had a job , so I didn't stay out all night partying.

Me too.....learned to multi task. Takes money to stay out all night partying.

Not sure what your complaint has to do with high school parties? Took my dog on walks in the woods for exercise.....also had dogs in woods for hunting......sorry if I scared away your elk or owl.......I treed and bagged a lot of squirrel and downed a lot of birds though.

I agree. I think it was three years after I graduated, that I saw these two girls I went to high school with. Saw them in a grocery store. Like a month later they both died because the boy driving was drunk and ran a stop sign out in the country.

I didn’t know those two girls that well, but I still think about them from time to time. One girl had a dad who was a college professor. He kind of went crazy though and was asked to retire early.

Small Midwest town, party out in the country like y’all are talking about. I went to lots of them myself.
I went to high school '64-68 in SW Connecticut. CT was a 21 state for alcohol & NY was 18 and most of us had fake IDs and drove over the NY state line to drink in the bars. A lot of drunk kids got killed coming back. There were a lot of house parties too but just booze not drugs except for a few pot smokers.
