I saw that episode last night. I did not know that Henry built an iron frame? I really thought they were all brass. I think it is more the iron frame that makes it special??? Granted, I am not terribly knowledgeable on the Henry. By the way the episode was from 2000 and was updated.

I saw the episode, too, and when they showed an iron-framed Henry that looked really nice, I knew the price would be a shocker. Wish I had a job that put me in some old attics. That's how my grandfather latched on to a Springfield musket---swiped it from the attic of the G.A.R. hall when he did some electrical work there. :wink:

Hey Amigo Ya want to buy a Irons Frames Henry





Here is one in Houston for sale at Collector's Firearms.

Excellent condition Iron Frame Henry rifle. Serial number 90. Beautiful gun with 90% of the original blue on the barrel, and 10% on the frame. Excellent stock. Excellent bore! Gun is all matching. The iron frame Henrys were only made at the first part of the production and none are found after serial number 150 or so. The brass frames and the iron frames were made at the same time. The iron frames were used pretty hard and did not maintain their finish. Original wood cleaning rod is in the butt. This is an extreme rarity seeing an iron frame and virtually unheard of to find one with this amount of original finish. This is one of the top two or three Iron Frame Henrys!

The one in the OP might have sold a weeeeeeeeeeee bit to low.

Collectors Firearms can be pretty proud of their guns when putting price tags on them.

However, I'd rather have the Henry they had for sale a couple of years ago that belonged to a Texas Ranger (with very good provenance). It was priced at around $85,000, IIRC.

My own Henry (#84xx) out of Mexico is somewhat butchered up - a cut down barrel & rough stock - but at least it is real.... and mine. :mrgreen:

Those are some beautiful rifles guys. I'm, more than a little, envious. I'll never be able to afford an original, let alone a collector piece, but I just got the new Henry catalog last week and they are making a steel frame Big Boy that looks like a pretty good deal.
