Google this: Fancy Serial Number Checker
If anyone interested in money and/or serial numbers of currency, you can look it up here and if the serial number is 'interesting', your bill might be worth more than face value. Working in a casino cage, I could order currency and I would go through ex: $1000 in $1 bills. I would pull out bills that would help me win at "liars poker", like bills that had sequential or consecutive numbers, so I could win with a straight or full house or whatever I thought would win a hand. I asked a novice to play and I took all his money (payday) but being the nice guy that I am I returned it to him and let him in on my "secret". So, check out the top line if you have a larcenous nature.

I have always been into coins. Started playing with currency a little bit recently. I like large bills.

It appears unique serial numbers, sequential (on the same bill) palindromes and a host of other things are catching people's eye these days. As always condition is king.

I'm also seeing a bunch of coin "errors" that to me aren't errors they are manufacturing defects versus true errors. Minor die chips, fl;ashing type blobs etc... not double dies, double date, off center etc... But again people are buying.

Maybe I'm just too practical with my money, or not lazy enough to see the use. I have seen many things I thought were useless/stupid become huge sellers.

I like getting $2 bills and handing them out as tips to see the servers expressions. When I first gave some to my granddaughter when she was 16 (to fold up and hide it in her purse so she will always have money just in case), she was a bit indignant and said "Grampa, is this real money or are you making fun of me?" I told her it was legitimate US currency - and then gave her some new $1 coins  :D

Last fall I took a bunch of coins and currency and bought a table at a coin show.
I sold an UNC 1957 silver certificate $1 with serial # 00000006 for $800.
Probably would have got more if put it at an auction, but I was happy with my profit.

Like us Ruger geeks, serial numbers appeal to the currency folks as well
