tell me how odd this is.

as many know I hate hurricanes. so much to a point that we decided to move out of va. 5 direct hits with eyes over my house and countless near misses, we said this enough.

so here I am up in ct taking care of mom. wife is in va. so what happens?

IM GOING TO GET A CAT 1 DIRECT HIT IN CT. oh no, its not going to graze the coast, its going to hit new haven DEAD ON and travel north up the Naugatuck valley! and wheres that eye going?
RIGHT OVER MY HOUSE.

I cant win. im a hurricane magnet.
pray my family isn't hurt. we cant go inland. ct is too small to make a difference. im 6 miles off the coast. here we go..........

I was a kid in August 1955 when Hurricane Diane dumped 17 inches of rain on Connecticut. Our basement had 3 feet of water and I spent the day using the washing machine to pump out the water. Diane caused hundreds of millions of damage. Let's hope Henri doesn't reach this level.

the 55 flood was a combo of 2 hurricanes converging. I doubt it....and back then they didn't have flood control or dam regulating.
this will be a classic hit and run...no power, complain complain complain about dems' slow to respond.

We may be getting a little on us too........ The media brain trust says "be prepared" whatever THAT means. Maybe they're suggesting we move back to Va.

They are predicting up to 6 inches over the 3-4 day period. That's a walk in the park compared to 17 inches in 1955. We did not lose power in 1955.
When we get 6 inches here the only problem is the low-water bridge is to dangerous to cross for 3 or 4 hours until the water runs off.

AND.... it appears that when it does do that 'left-hook' our local weather guy says it will STALL and just hang-out and dump water all over us..... I'm moving my recliner up onto the roof tomorrow evening.

Looks like it won’t hit you directly. They have it on a more easterly track now. Off the tip of Long Island into Rhode Island then moving closer to Boston.

the leading edge is on us now. landfall was new london. but I can say with confidence, for the most part, we dodged a bullet. it went north of us and fell apart at sea.

Very correct. We also are in your same boat. Am thinking that all the prep work I did beforehand had an effect (I hope). Have 7 days of gas for the generator, an updated wet vac., and were just waiting. No complaints, though.
