help a new guy with ruger security six

Hi all ,I am new to the Ruger forum but not new to guns. As of late I have been bitten by the Ruger bug. I picked this security six 2 3/4" this weekend at a show came with the box and paperwork. I paid $490.00 and was wondering how I did either way i love it but would like to hear some feedback and price info from you all. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. The six series has a large following. The fact that it came with box and papers is a big plus. I am not up to speed on the prices. Others with expertise will chime in. You will enjoy.

If YOU are happy ..... nothing else matters. I've seen them bring $375 to $550. Depends on your "gotta have" factor, geographic location, etc.

Yep, you did just fine - if not a bit on the lower end. Gun appears to be in ANIB w/box. The short barreled .357s have been in demand lately. Good snag!

great buy, I have had a service six and security six forever, they are the guns that I carry when I travel and the gun that is accessible in my home. They never break! Incredible guns that are now just becoming recognized for the quality they are. Would not give mine up. Bob

You did well. Light barrel, late model stainless. The gun should outlive you.

I did some of my best "long range snubbie" shooing with the same type. Started out with a milk jug at toss-out distance, every shot rolling it further away until at about 45 yards I started to miss. Of course I as shooting the snubbie Ruger 3-4 mornings a week, and carrying it daily.

The shorty Security-Sixes are amazingly well-built, and with reasonable care you will soon begin to judge all revolvers against your example.

Shoot it often! I'm betting you'll have ample offers to take it off your hands at the range...

Welcome to the Ruger Forum.

I am not a collector, nor am I an expert. However, I am a long-time Ruger owner, bought my first 4" Security Six .357 in February 1973, and do have a few other Sixes. You have a really great revolver, and it will probably outlast all of us here on the Ruger Forum. Just try to buy a new Ruger double action revolver for what you paid for that great Six. Ain't goin' to happen. I think you done good Holo07. Congratulations.
