Headstamp on .357 mag

I just ran across a handful of .357 mag brass one of my shooting buddies "donated" to me at the range the other day, and I'm not familiar with the headstamp...... it has a very small star, a capital "I", followed by another very small star...... "*I*". He couldn't remember where he got this stuff, but due to the patina it looked like something he got from one of our now deceased senior buddies several years ago.

I ran the usual search from the various resources on the net, and all I could find was that it may fit the charts for ammo made in India, although the reference chart made no mention of the tiny stars bracing the "I".

I cleaned it up and light loaded it today, and not really concerned about any safety issues. Anyone have any idea about this brass?

Thanks guys.

They cleaned up nice, loaded nice, and cleaned up right nice again today. They do feel a bit heavier than most brass I have on hand.

I inherited about 1000 of those in .38 Special and a few in .357 and it seems to be right up there with some of the more known names.

With the "Star" on both sides of the "I" leads me to belive they are a Star Line product?........................................

Could be.

Starline and Remington have made cases for others over the years with the customer's stamp.

(Almost had my own back in the day, but the set-up cost and quantity commitment are 'significant').
