Just inherited a Ruger hawkeye anyone have a idea what it's worth?
Three digit S/N 256 win mag.

It's value hinges on a few factors. How's the finish on the gun? Any "extra" scope mounting holes? Has it got a box? Having the Bushnell Phantom Scope is a nice addition, however it was NOT shipped with the guns and was instead an "aftermarket" item.

I'll get back to the main point of the topic. As with most somewhat "rare" sixguns, the value hinges on the condition and the condition and the condition! :D

Having the box and a few of the "quite a few" accessories produced by various shooting accessories producers will add to the ultimate value. JMHO, of course.

Yes has a box, from what I can tell it has not been shot very clean. Also has a scope mount.

It sounds "nice"! I do NOT have any current price/estimated value sheets, therefore I'll let one or two of my "Ruger Forum" well informed experts post a current value on the package.

As for value, the RENE list the Hawkeye at $2575 for a 3 digit gun. The box will list for $515, and the instruction manual at $49, for a total of $3139. Now this is just a guide. The gun has to be between 95% and 98%, and the box has to be in good shape. If the gun is not 95 to 98 percent the value goes down, while if it is 100% mint with a mint box then the value will go up. Right now it's not the best time to be selling guns as the prices are somewhat soft. But the above prices are just a starting point, as the true value will be determined by how bad someone needs to sell a gun and how bad someone wants to buy a gun.

If you are interested in selling this gun then let us know the serial number because someone may have the consecutive number to it and that would make the value of your gun go up. Hope this helps!!!

There have been multiple relists of two top condition Hawkeyes with their accessories, in the very high 3K, to a 4K start price. Obviously, neithr has sold. Yes, market is narrow, and off, due to our economy and this price range. Consecutive SN(s) with other Collectors may assist with your possible sale.

Waltco,
Welcome to the forum,

Street is spot on. Heres my package sounds similar to yours only mine is not a 3 digit gun. It came with two mounts, the one on the gun is
marked Hawkeye. I value this package at $2,800.00+ in todays market, they tend to hold their value JMO.

How does the scope mount attach; to the two factory holes in the barrel or are there extra holes drilled in the top strap? Affects the value big time.

There should be only two mount holes: both at top rear of barrel. Holes in the top strap relegate the gun to a "Shooter" category and diminish the value by at least a thousand dollars. $1500 for an "extra hole(s) gun" is too much as far as I am opined.......Have owned 50+ of this uncommon Ruger firearm and have found few who will spend money for "modified guns" FWIW/JMO. 8)

yessir, the last 3 digit Hawkeye we could have gotten for $1400 , before it ended up at Jaquas , here in Ohio, BUT it had 7 , yes we said "seven" holes drilled in it for scope mounts and sling swivels!!

(two holes out on the top of the barrel ,where they are 'supposed' to be ,from the factory, plus it had two on the top strap, one on the bottom of the grip frame for a swivel stud and two under the bottom of the barrel for the front sling swivel...........)so sad, so very, very sad :(

hey Ale-8, there is still that 'other' one, with the 3 barrels, for even LESS money than that.......last we looked it was still down at the back end of our row at the OGCA, he offered it to me for $1100 8)

Holes on barrel, after closer inspection it looks like it has been shot and a garf here and there next to screws

Also the box looks nothing like the ones pictured( orange and black) plus the big sticker from the police dept stuck on it. Also frame appears to have a brownish color to it while the barrel appears to be blued. Has this been refinished?

hard to say "if it was reblued" without treally seeing it, as MANY Rugers have a "brownish" , actually a plum color tint to them , all too often in the manufactruing process, usually the casting material make up ,BUT, BUT, any reddisih, brownish, plum , colors are also a 'sign', a firearm was reblued , and done improperly, (temperature/time, material).....so that being said, one has to do their homework BEFORE they dish out ANY BIG $$$$$ for anything !!!!! priced right and accordingly, a deal is a deal at times, and I say "shop the deal" 8)

All of this is interesting. I'd say that some good pics can help us help you identify things about this Hawk. If you need to figure out how to post pics,,, go to the Gallery, look at the "sticky" at the top to see how to post pics here.
