Happy Independence Day

And long may it wave!

I heard a number a while back,, saying that only 1% of the population has served or is serving in our Military. Since it's a volunteer service,, much like our Forefathers, I think that at least 1%,,, combined with their families,, brings the numbers to maybe 5% truly FEEL what today is about.

I wonder how many folks today would be willing to do what was done for us so long ago. We must NEVER forget how & why we have our Freedom & the sacrifices made by the traitors to England 243 years ago.

I know I would proudly stand with them.

Just found this. It ties in with what you said. Don't know the total accuracy of it though.
"The latest information shows 24.6 million US citizens are veterans of military service which is less then 10% of the US population. The number of combat veterans is harder to find but probably less then 25% of the veterans ever saw combat so probably 2 to 3 percent maximum of the US population has seen combat in the military. . As the Korean and World War Two veterans age and diminish, as are the Vietnam veterans, then the number will fall to less then that. A veteran is some one who served in the military.
If the question was number of vets not the number of people in the military now-that is less then 1% of the population."

Frank,,, you may be right. It may have been combat vets.

Still,,, even if the number is only 10%,,, it's very reflective of the attitude of much of this Country. Kinda like the NRA. Only a small percentage of us are truly dedicated to Freedom.

Now,, before anybody bashes me for the fact they or someone they know is ineligible for military service,, I give those folks a pass,, as the ones who are/were willing,,, yet refused for whatever,, still support Freedom. A good example is my son, a LEO. His asthma kept him out of the military,, but he became a cop.

We watched the 4th of July celebration from DC last night, hosted by John Stamos. As always a good show.

This great Country enjoys a lot of freedoms that many other people around the world wish they had. We must never forget the cost, the sacrifice & the fact that our forefathers were traitors to the Crown to give us this freedom,,,,,,,,,,,,!

Happy Independence Day to all of my good american friends....
