It's hard to know. I got 3 of those big bags from Costco. Last year we had an extra bag. Hoping this year we don't have quite so much left. Weatherman said it could rain some.

We get two kids every year for the pas 15 years. Makes it easy to buy stuff and how much left overs are need for my sweat tooth!!

We used to have a neighbor who did their whole yard so well it hit the local paper. People came from all over to see it and we were buying 10-15 large bags of candy - and running out. They moved about 3 years ago and there are no little kids in the neighborhood anymore so we don't bother.
Over the past few years a lot of folks have retired and moved out of the neighborhood, to be replaced by young professionals. The result is that we're beginning to get trick or treaters again.
Right now there's a huge party going on on the Great Highway, which is closed to traffic today. Lots of little ones in costume with their parents. The Pacific makes a great backdrop...

Our church does a trunk or treat but I'm old fashion and like to hand it out myself. The dog used to go out and visit the kids each time, but he's since passed. That will be a bummer for me and I'm sure some of the kids.
We never get a single kid. Ever.
I don't know if it's the scarcity of houses, the 1/4 mile driveway, or the savage dog pack that discourages kids... :lol:
I do miss the halloweens I spent in the city, when we would regularly get 100+ kids trick or treating.

Actually, I haven’t been home for Halloween for over 40 years until now. Usually elk hunting…. We have had 5 kids come by so far.
Only about a dozen kids total. Four groups within 15 minutes of each other. That was it. I am going to be forced to eat all those 3 Musketeers bars.

Never had Trick or Treat kids come by since we bought the place in 2007.
Well I went through 2 of the 3 bags of candy. I was handing out handfuls of candy from the first, and toward the end they were getting 2 or 3 handfuls of candy at a time. But that's what it took to get rid of them. Not sure about the last bag, it's still not open yet.

We did Trunk or treat at the church. Light misty drizzle, but still treated well over 300 little people to candy. Had a great time.
Once again I had a quiet Halloween. An 800 foot driveway is discouraging, plus the churches and other entities have the trunk n treats. I didn’t buy any big bags of candy cause I don’t need the left overs. Even our dispatch for emergency services was quiet. A drunk driver ran his car into an apt complex in town, arrests made.

Our neighbors are stick in the mud types. Besides there aren’t any kids on our end of the (long) street, so it’s quiet here, but a few blocks over lots of kids and the families living there really get involved.

For years the "universal" sign in my neighborhood that you don't want trick or treaters at your house has been to turn the lights out front off (porch lights, security lights, etc.)
For a number of years, there have been fewer and fewer lights, as there just aren't many kids here and nobody wants to attract the rowdies. This was the first year the street was absolutely black.
Now Saturday night there was a party. A real one! The family that hosted it has about a gazillion relatives, and I'm sure everyone got plenty of candy!

No trick or treaters whatsoever this year. Guess they were too lazy to walk to end of our cul de sac.
6 trick or treaters total here; glad I bought only one bag of stuff I don't like!
My rock band played a local bar on Saturday night. The place was absolutely packed. Crowd was very friendly. Many folks were in costume. Bar made tons of money and wants us back.
But... The rest of the band wants nothing to do with late night bar gigs. They only want to play day time festivities. OK by me.
