Happy 243rd Birthday US ARMY !!

"U.S. Army Birthday. The U.S. Army was founded on June 14, 1775, when the Continental Congress authorized enlistment of riflemen to serve the United Colonies for one year. The 14 June date is when Congress adopted "the American continental army" after reaching a consensus position in The Committee of the Whole."

I had the privilege of serving in the 3rd Inf. Regt. in Korea. The 3rd.Inf.is "The Old Guard" and is the unit that supplies ceremonial soldiers in Washington., D.C.

Not being over six feet tall, I didn't make the elite guards.

I do have the NCO's swagger stick, though. This is a replica (sort of) of the baton the drum major carried into Mexico City during that fracas. It was made from a shortened flag pole, with a 3rd. Inf. button attached.

Hooah! I had the privilege of serving on active duty from 1973 to 1993 in Korea (x3), Kentucky, Texas (x2) Alaska, and Maryland, and as a DA civilian from 2008 to present in Korea (x2) and Arizona.
