I saw one of these online really the price tag is the only reason I don’t have one.

Are they really worth $3,000? How do they shoot?

It’s going to take a long long time to convince sweetie that owning one is a good idea.

Does anyone have one?

I still haven’t done anything with the dedicated 9mm AR15 lower I bought. I might just keep it and aim for something like this instead.

Opinions on H&K?

I know it’s not 9mm but I can vouch for these. They’re made in 5.56 or 22LR. WELL under $1,000 …. Let alone the $3k for that H&K. You can make up that money difference with LOTS and LOTS of ammo!

I know nothing about that H&K however I had a CZ Scorpion Evo for a few years and decided I didn't like that
size gun. Too big to really shoot in typical handgun fashion and a long ways from a carbine or rifle.
My Glock 17 and 19 both take 33 round mags if I want capacity. Even my CZ75 will hold 20 rounds.
I decided it was useless for me and sold it. It did look cool though......

HK firearms are top of the line!! You can buy PTR clone for $1400ish that are good quality also, just not stamped HK. Go ahead a stamp an SBR. Then you have something short, controlable and more functional. Short “pistol” AR’s have quite a bit of blowback. Scorpions and HK’s dont. I hav never regretted buying SBR stamp. Then when you add a suppressor your still under avg length

Wife has a PC9 in 9mm. Does everything we ask of it.

Had (have) an HK4 in 32 acp. Rails all screwed up=need to be trimmed to remove the burrs and re-mate the slide! Haven't felt it was worth the money to fix.

Haven't had any personal experience with the HK clones, Skorpion EVOs or AR pistols, but I did have the chance some years ago to put one of the old Intratec TEC-9s through its paces. I've also shot a Cobray MAC-something clone in 9mm.

I found the TEC-9 too expensive for a paperweight or boat anchor, and too unreliable to even think of using it for any sort of social purposes. All it had going for it was its cool tactical look, which needless to say in some jurisdictions is also a liability. The Cobray MAC I shot was at least reliable, but awkward to shoot at arms' length. YMMV. I briefly toyed with the notion of purchasing and transforming one of the MACs into a clone of Snake Plissken's gun from "Escape from New York," but then I came to my senses.

Hilarously, I've heard that Beretta's PMX is an updated version of the old TEC-9, via B&T, and with a facelift to make it look extra-scarier-tactical than the original. Wouldn't surprise me at all if it were true. At least with Beretta the quality and reliability would be much improved over Intratec . . .

I trained with an MP5K for close quarters combat and urban warfare during my time in the Army. They were much superior to the M16A2 or even the early M16 carbine variants for this purpose. I have thought about getting or making a semi-auto SBR version over the years, but I’ll probably never need those skills again. I DID however walk into a LGS about 7-8 years ago and they had an early Hi Point 9mm carbine that had recently returned from the factory for repairs. You know the one, it looks like it came out of one of the old Planet of the Apes movies. The owner let me have it for $225. I have put several thousand rounds through it since then with nary a malfunction. Cheap fun! A buddy of mine has the HK pistol version and it’s just not that practical, either for carry or in use. IIRC Palmetto State Armory is currently selling a 9mm “AR” type pistol for $499 if anyone is interested.

There are lots of guns that will do the job cheaper.

There are many guns that will do the job as reliably.

There are no guns of this type that are as recognizable or iconic as the MP5. Google Operation Nimrod.

I’ve got a bunch of HK pistols. But I’ve wanted a MP5 since the first time I saw one. And it will probably be the first thing I buy if I ever win the lottery.

Kevin, I'll have a Ruger PC9 and an AR-15 in 9mm for you to try at the Gathering. And I've had a lot of experience with the HK firearms,, including some MP5's & such.

Have a number of HK pistols and can't say enough postive things about them. Will take one of them over any Ruger pistol anyway. The finer attention to things matter sometimes. Worth the price...all depend son what YOU want.

Spent a lot of time behind MP5 and clones, great guns! I own several real H&K rifles and find the clones as reliable and much less spends. If you are an H&K collector or have money pouring from an your body, buy one otherwise a clone will get you the enjoyment you desire

In the shortage of early 2013, most firearms and ammo disappeared from the cabinets and shelves. This, despite the fact that previously so many people had said that there would be plenty of 9mm firearms and ammo...WRONG! The last firearm and ammo was the .40 cal. In early 2014, I could finally afford to pick a firearm in .40 cal. I picked up a P30L LEM v. 1 and it felt great in my hand and I knew it would feel even better when I switched the grips to the thinner ones. I pulled the trigger and bought it. Went out to the desert and had a great time shooting it. It was a perfect niche between my BHP 9mm and my Ruger KP345PR .45. I like having different calibers in case of a shortage of one or another. I can understand why some folks may not like an HK because of the magazine release being in a different location than what we are used to, but I realized I could just use my trigger finger to release the mag. No prob for me.
I suggest...pick one up and try it out. Good shootin' to y'all.

If I've ever owned anything HK, I don't remember. But I've experienced a few.

On one occasion many moons ago, my Ordnance unit was ordered to the range. Seems the HK folks had brought a bunch of guns and a truck load of ammo for us to try out. No explanation. But they brought everything they had available. Rifles, pistols, subs, suppressed, full auto, the whole works. And we were encouraged to extensively try everything out, just to tell them what we thought. No other strings were attached. That was a memorable day.

A couple things I remember...
First, they brought out a scoped rifle. I don't even remember which one. The presenter fired at a bullseye target, hitting it dead center. He then threw a couple levers on the scope mount, removed the scope, and threw the scope downrange as far as he could. He retrieved the scope, remounted it, and fired again at a bullseye target. Hit it dead center.

They brought out another, or maybe the same gun. Handed one of the Troops a nasty coarse file, and asked him to scratch the finish on the rifle. The Troop hesitated, but they said, really, go ahead. Made a couple heavy strokes of the file on this gun, and the finish remained unscratched.

Full auto was nothing new to me, but I had zero experience with suppressors. They brought out a suppressed sub-gun. I've never experienced such a quietly suppressed gun, even to this day. The sound of the bolt operating was louder than the report of the cartridges.

I was obviously impressed with every product they offered.

I started with the USP40. Added the USP Elite later but it's the P9S and P7 series models that I like most. The often forgotten HK4 sits fresh and unused. Most recently added a P2kSK.
