comes to those who don't even know just what they have and are selling, so I went ahead and purchased this "Single Six" Buckeye convertible anyway.................

not even the factory can get it 'right"................

Yow. I had forgotten all about that scenario until that showed up. I came home and tried to find the box for my .32 Buckeye to see if I had a similar oddity . . . and I can't find it.

Gonna have to dig a little deeper, I guess.

Good score, Dan.

:)

Dan, did you pick that up at the OGCA show last weekend?

yes as noted above, the first Buckeyes circa 1988-89 per the RENE, there were about 200 noted labels that as shown above are "obviously" incorrect in their info.. the Buckeyes are 'Blackhawks', NOT 'Single-Sixes.......so even the catalog noted is 'incorrect', not an "SSM6"..... in fact, there were 3 different label variations for the 32-20/32 H&R Mag Buckeye.........well as I said , the guy selling this gun said he was selling a 32 caliber Single Six, I looked it over and said "yep, I'll take...." all to often when we may "try" to inform a person that what they "think" they have, is NOT that ,they get all defensive ,even combative, want to debate....let 'em go, just smile............and if the price is "right" , just buy it...its when they come over, and want to KNOW, or be informed, then by all means ,we help them out, yes too often pricing ourselves out of what could have been a great deal , if I wanted to "stiff" them...........better to be straight up and honest in the long run, this WORKS for us.

Note too, that the serial number of this gun is #610-00111 putting it lower in the range of that the RENE has noted, #610-00128 to 610-00490, and about 200 made..........

Might be nice to see a letter on that one or at least get a ship date. Something tells me that this one didn't go out with the first batch to Buckeye Sports. It may not have gone to Buckeye at all. With all the label inconsistencies on the 32, no wonder they just left it off completely on the 38-40 that followed.

Nah....Ruger just got the catalog number wrong. Somebody was thinking .32 Mag Single-Six when they printed the labels so made this one a Single-Six too. Probably a case of the left hand not knowing that in the right hand was a "Blackhawk" sized .32 Mag.
The shipping sleeve stamps for those earliest shipped guns are the same...SSM6X, and yes, they all went to Buckeye, even the "subscriber" guns....very few "subscribers" were able to get their guns back (another black mark for Ruger's "low serial number program").
In the transition to the new label, Ruger used a few small white labels that had S32X typed on them, then they went to the big white/blue S32X label.
There are also transitions in boxes/shipping sleeves and some SSM6X sleeves over stamped with S32X markings.
I was able to track this stuff pretty good as it happened from Buckeye as all the guns received at Buckeye would get a separate receiving number on the sleeve, put on by the workman at Buckeye. The separate numbers in black magic marker did not exceed 200 for the SSM6X marked boxes, then did not surpass another 100 for the small white sticker.

Nifty! Got one of those in the safe myself... But the label on yours is a LOT cleaner! Congratulations! :)
