Gun Show Find: 1970 Colt New Frontier

I've been looking for one of these for years and found it at yesterday's gun show. It's brand new, unfired/unturned with papers and a ratty box on the way. They just don't make blue like this anymore, and the colors are spectacular. Check out the caliber!

In all my years of scrounging around at gun shows, I've come up with 2 NIB Colt's in the last year or so. It makes up for all the times I've left with a $5 gun rug. I really don't know how to take good pics like so many of you can, but I think this one turned out pretty well, for me anyway. 2 more pics in my yesterday's GUN SHOW thread.

VERY nice. What is the barrel length on it? Those 2nd Gen NFs are absolutely fine sixguns!!

If yours is indeed a 1970 gun, that would make it a 2nd generation. In 44 Special, those are VERY scarce. There were only 118 in 5.5" and 134 in 7.5" (I just happen to have the Wilkerson 2nd Gen Colt book on my desk).

BB45C, it's a 7 1/2". I really need to get a good Colt reference guide. Where can I get the one you have? The dealer had a pocket guide. I have the bible on S&W's, nothing on the Colts. Thanks in advance!

BTW: He has a similar .45 and 44-40 as well. They weren't cheap but...

Yes, they are. They are just out now.

I just received a 5.5" NF 44 Special. These NFs are absolutely gorgeous guns that are very well fitted and timed. Certainly not the same as the old 3rd gen NFs. Fantastic color casing too.

I can't wait to take it out and shoot it this coming weekend.
