So jealous. Still working on my gun shelf, not in the realm of needing a room for them yet!

Seeing the gun room photos definitely get my thought juices flowing of when I am ready to put together a gun room of my own.

Starting to really get myself motivated to begin Phase II of mine. Searched around and kinda figured out what it's gonna take to get the access/stairs made then I can go from there minus the electrical/plumbing. The current one will become more office-like with my Nascar, Kiss and Disney stuff. The Phase II part area will for the most part be the Ruger Room as I need the additional space for the memorabilia more so than firearms.

Construction continues:

Rebar going up, to be followed by the outside layer of plywood and 2X strongbacks. Hope to pour early next week.

It has been several months since we poured concrete. The house is coming along; dried in and trim in progress. Here are some updated pictures of the gun room/tornado shelter.

This is looking from the bathroom area inside the vault towards the workbench storage area. There will be a slide out cabinet on the left to hold a dozen or so folding chairs for use during tornado time.

The view from the workbench chair looking to the left above the chair storage. Long guns on the shelf with slatwall for handguns and tools.

From the chair looking to the right. Shelves for dies, brass and other goodies. Two tall cabinets for additional long gun storage.

More work finished. Workbench top with removal insert for different presses, vises and trimmers.

I am blessed with a wife who supports my interests and an extremely talented and skilled builder who I've known since childhood. We are all having a great time building this place, making changes and designing on the fly. Hope to finish up and get moved in this spring.

Princeout, NICE looking set up there. We built a new home a couple years ago, and I have a similar structure, though it is a part of the basement. It is a 8'6" x 15' room set in a corner. 8" walls, 6" steel reinforced concrete cap, and a full floor truss structure over the top of that. I need to finish it out, as it does not even have a door on it yet. I think you and I will be in good shape in the event of a tornado.
