Yesterday at the gun range I shoot at one section off to the side. Well there were only 3 people there anyway, but still.

So I just got started and the instructor for concealed carry showed up with a class.

I just waited because it would only be about 20 minutes.

He proceeded to tell them to load their “clips.” 🫣

But a while back, there was a thread about Mark II magazines. I ordered two from Shop Ruger. However, they got put on back order.

Then on Friday about 11 am I ordered three magazines for a Smith and Wesson Model 41.

Smith and Wesson didn’t has any in stock, but Grab A Gun did.

So ordered Friday, they were just delivered this morning. Weird. I didn’t pay for expedited shipping or anything.

It makes me wonder if the magazines from Shop Ruger will ever be available?

Here I thought this post would be about gun magazines you read. :)
Clips man, clips!

See how clip would avoid confusion? 🤔

I’m actually not sure the point of my post. It’s either I got fast shipping from Grab A Gun; or it’s hard to find Mark II magazines.

Or, a concealed carry instructor used the term clip vs, magazine.

Yeah, just a week or 2 back I read where aftermarket MKII mags were giving someone problems & that factory mags were hard to find. I thought maybe he don't know where to look.

Then I got curious as I have 2 MKII's & went on a super search. Soon realized they are scarce, very. Hope Ruger just doesn't abandon the model all together.

I think we can follow the subject line…

Guns and Ammo and American Rifleman for me. I used to get one where Massad Ayoob was a regular contributor. Can’t remember which one it was.

Still like the print editions. Of course, there’s nothing like the ROCS quarterly!

I recently found a MK II magazine on a table at a gun show. It had a light rusty patina,, yet wasn't really rusty. Almost like something just turned the bluing to a reddish brown color.
Well,, it cost me $5.00.

I cleaned it up, and just today,,, took it out to test it. it ran flawlessly.

Oh,, and I also purchased an old, original High Standard .22 magazine with the marked plastic base plate a few days ago in a private sale of "stuff." It was actually rusty & the follower was frozen & such. Well, a good cleaning,, and it too got tested today. It functioned perfectly.

Basically both magazine cost me nearly nothing,, and work just fine.

Oh, and I used my Ruger Super GP-100 in 9mm with moon CLIPS yesterday in our monthly USPSA match.

Yep,, a difference in the names, AND what they mean.

The point I got was it really doesn’t matter what you call it. But an instructor should know better. I wouldn’t trust anything else he said.

Yeah I'm not touching the Mag/Clip debate. Too many yahoos will get on the clip rant. I remember mashed (push ups/sit ups/sharks/cherry pickers) on the firing line in basic when another recruit said clip. Dang I think I just touched it.

Anyhoo....as for magazines...I too ordered magazines (five SR1911 10mm) from Grab a Gun. They had a deal that could not be refused. 40% less than ShopRuger. Same day I ordered Mini-14 mags from ShopRuger. Both orders were received three days after ordering. I didn't pay for expedited shipping either. I was surprised....usually takes 7-10 days in my experience.

I’m not sticking up for Grab A Gun, but they have been VERY good to order from.

They have an office about 10 miles from my house. I can order and pick up direct. Only guns, not accessories for some reason.

So honestly, it takes longer to drive to the gun store than it does to buy a gun.

That might have been American Handgunner Magazine. I enjoyed his columns. He gets a bad wrap from the younger plastic fantastic double stack crowd these days as they think they know more than the "single stack" boomers....they are in better physical shape, but that's about it.

Yep, that was me. Glad to know I wasn't hallucinating about availability. Most recent adjustments to the MecGar MK II mags yielded modest improvement, but still jammed. Factory Ruger mag runs like melted butter.

I ❤️ clips!!!
