I haven't posted any 1911 grip pictures in a while so I thought i'd share a few of the new sets I've made. :)

just showing off, none of these are for sale

Sambar Stag.

I love all the grips I make but I really hate to see this set go!

Maple Burl.

Amboyna Burl.

Curly Koa.

Mesquite Burl.

Gabon Ebony with Stippling.

Box Elder Burl.

Beautiful grips.

Question: do the camel bone grips have the same gripping "feel" as mastodon ivory or are they slick like the plastic ivory?

well I've never handled mastodon ivory or plastic ivory so I can't really answer that question, I will say though that while they are smooth I've never felt they were slick or slippery in any way.

I wrote mastodon when I really meant mammoth.
I have some made by Chinnook and they aren't slick or slippery at all. I handled the fake ivory ones and they just don't feel like I could get a good grip on them.
Can you tell me what a set of camel bone might cost? Or send me a PM if you can't post it?

Hi LSCG,

As another poster opined in a report, If these grips are in fact for sale, please list them in the classified section, with a price. If you're just showing them off ... Carry on, and nice job ! :D

Thanks !

hi REV,

at the time of the first post all sets were sold, however I have removed the pics of two sets because the buyer backed out of the deal this morning, as a craftsman I've always found enjoyment in looking at other peoples work be they grip makers, knife makers or holster makers and so I just felt like showing off some of my own skill. :D

thanks!
Zane.

Are the Box elder burl stabalized?
I have a set I ordered off a amateur gentleman (not nearly as nice as your but nice wood) that need to be polished up and I would like to see them shine like yours, any suggestions?
That stag set really are amazing by the way

hi bigshep85,

yes my box elder burl grips are stabilized, I use a polyurethane finish on mine and then I buff them out with a buffing wheel and polishing compound, of course you may not be able to do that if he used an oil based finish on them.

hope that helps,
Zane.

I've been around this forum far too long to believe you haven't received a few PMs wanting to buy a set, despite your clear "not for sale" post!
How about it - how many so far??? ;)

I didn't see where he said that he had not received pm's asking about buying them.

howdy Sam,

I never said I didn't make sales or take orders via pm, I've in fact made quite a few sales, I've also donated and given away quite a few sets here on this forum and several other forums I belong to. :D

the only reason I put "not for sale" in my first post was because someone flagged my post thinking I was trying to sell here instead of the classifieds, Rev informed me and I modified my post accordingly, I did in fact remove two pictures because the person who bought them changed his mind and since I will be posting them in the classifieds in a few days I saw no point in keeping the pictures here, all of the other sets have already been delivered to their new owners or will be on the way later today.

thanks,
Zane.
