Anybody got any good recommendations for replacement grips for a Redhawk? The stock, wood, grips beat the devil out of my right hand. I tried Hogue Monogrips, but they were not that ergonomic for me (short palm and long fingers) and they covered the serial number, something that I don't like, so I put the stock back on.

Any ideas? I'm tired of getting the nickle-sized bruise at the knuckle at the base of my right thumb when I shoot the darned thing. Worst case, I'll trade it in on a Super Blackhawk. I had one and shot it a lot with no problems.

I like Pachmayr Presentation grips and the Uncle Mikes grips. The Uncle Mikes grips are out of production but I got mine from Numrich.

The Pachmayr grips did not fit well out of the box. I needed to file the rubber seam between the halves smooth. Once I did that, they work really well.

Both grips will cover the serial number. I'm not a fan of that either. So far, I've not found out one way or another whether it's legal to cover the serial number. Even if it is, I don't want an LEO or a TSA agent, for whatever reason, to make an issue of it and/or to be taking the grips off and messing it up.

I too like the Uncle Mikes and got mine from Numrich. A link is below.

After trying about ALL the grip options available, these (for me) are the absolute best for my .41 Mag Redhawk.

All my Redhawks (and GP100s) wore or continue to wear Pachmayr Decelerators.
They allow MY hand to get up high into the grip, and wedge my hand tightly.
The material cushions the harshest recoil (insane recoil still hurts, but differently).
I use the Redhawks for fast DA competition shooting in USPSA, too.

I used to always use Pachmyers but the started using more and more Hogue grips. But on my Redhawks the Hogue's dont cover the backstrap and I switched to Pachmyer Decellerators. I can shoot my 7.5" Redhawk all day with these.

I bought a 4" Redhawk (from a member on here), that was customized and has a rounded grip. The wood grips on it would get to me after a couple of cylinders full, so I put decellerators on it to find a load and sight it in. Once done I switched back to the wood grips. I fire 2-3 cylinders full each time I take it out now with those grips.

Try a grip that covers the backstrap and I think you will find it a lot more fun to shoot.

Spend the money if you have it for a custom set from Herrett's.
All (4) my Redhawks wear them and I am prone to shooting heavy for caliber bullets out of them.

Here is two pairs on some 45 Colt Redhawks.
