Hogue makes their monogrip out of a variety of hard woods. Hogues fill in the space occupied by a grip adapter and leave the back strap exposed. Finger grooves are standard but they can be ordered without them. Grip caps and checkering are optional.

I've got a pair of Altamont grips on my Redhawk, and I feel they are worth the money. I chose a set of laminated redwoods and had their "western" scrollwork etched into them. It really sets it apart!
Herrett's will make a set of grips for your Redhawk. I sent them a block of fancy fiddleback claro walnut and a tracing of my hand, less than 2 months later these came in the mail.
I will second SteveM. I had a Redhawk I had Herretts make a Roper style grip with the option of speedloader cutout. They are made to fit one's hand (you send them a hand tracing) and it fit perfectly. Someone mentioned on one of the boards that Hogue would make the grip to fit a person's hand for $35 extra which would be a bargain. In my case I have a size 9.5 hand with short fingers so had need of a custom grip on something the size of the Redhawk. Eagle also makes grips for Redhawks.

This is the first time I've seen it written that Hogue will make a custom grip to fit your hand. There is nothing on their site that indicates they will. However, Hogue writes in their instruction sheet packaged with wood Monogrips that they can be easily sanded down where desired then refinished with furniture polish.
I'm considering buying a set of wood GP 100 Monogrips and sanding down their top rear to reduce trigger reach. Wood grips would improve the appearance of my blued GP.

Beautiful grips! I don't think that Herretts will cut your wood any longer, though. I wrote them asking about that very subject a while back, and they not-so-politely declined.

The sanding will work if one is careful where they sand (ask me how I know). I had a 686 Mountain Gun with the stock round butt and and a round to square conversion Hogue. I removed the ducktail at the rear to get a better concealing grip and while at it sanded down the sides around the palm swells which reduced the girth and gave me a better grip. One place I would not sand is on the grip around the front strap as managed to sand through the grip at the front on a K frame.

That must be something relatively new, I had these done just this past Aug. and it was no problem. I called and asked..........maybe the website isn't current?? Give them a ring, ...nice folks....I'm nobody special, and they seemed to go out of their way to help me out....and I was a first time customer
