Grip Eagle emblems

Hi Guys
Is there a simple way to refinish the grip emblems where the color, black or red has worn away. I don't think that a tiny brush would work

Any suggestions?

Thought Flatgate might have an answer for what I want to do

Most of us use a toothpick with very small amounts of paint to touch up things. A long needle tip works good too.

They can be spray painted and then immediately wiped over with one layer of a piece of T shirt wrapped tightly around a straight edge to leave a uniform paint layer in the bird or around the bird; depending on which emblems.

Thanks guys for the replies. I don't have the gun yet but from the pics the grips look good but the black in the eagles is gone as in not there.
Jim, I think that the way you described is probably the way it is done at the factory but with something different then a t-shirt

Yes, you often see black paint around the rim edge where the paint doesn't get wiped off. And not with a T shirt, maybe

I redid some Corvette emblems by diluting Testors paint to about 1/2 its consistancy. I got it just to the point for it to flow so I could get it in the corners, but not the sides, using a fine quality small pointed paint brush. A toothpick would work as mentioned above. I believe it took 2 quick coats and they never looked better and very even. Ruger emblems are much finer, so possibley use a slightly more diluted paint. It should be really easy to wipe off and start over again.

Make sure they're clean before applying paint. I used denatured alcohol, though there are lots of other cleaners.

You guys are the BEST. I love all that I as an old guy has learned about Rugers from this site. Years ago I was into Colts but due to finances they are all gone now.

I'd add that a piece of cotton t-shirt stretched across a flat hard surface would work for wiping the excess paint off the "face" surfaces. Testor's enamel paints probably exceed the stuff the factory applies in long=term performance anyway. A thin clear coat over the finished result is recommended.

Somebody did these in RED on a flatgate :arrow: looks as good as factory paint........... I guess they thought this was makeing it 8) with the aftermarket sights.

Does anyone know where I can find or have any of the old black emblems for sale??
