Grenade season approching

Magnolia grenades that is. My tree is blooming so the grenades will be dropping soon. This is annual event. Y'all who know about this know what I'm talking about.

Just like a Mamosa or a cedar, they are an invasive species to a tree farm, you cut, spray and burn them Birds spread them every where. I found three this morning on the farm, they will be gone, real quick.

You do know the flowers are eatable, right? Especially when pickled.

Got a 60 footer in Ma's front yard. Been there since before we moved into the house in '63. About 2 or 3 hundred blossoms on it today. Those grenades' were almost as good as the green sweetgum balls when in a neighborhood street fight. We didn't have snow so no snowball fights and had to come up with something else.
