They’re the online discount place for first responders, active Mil and Vets. Who’s signed up and what do you think about them, how much a discount do they normally give?
Can’t find anything online on discount amounts. About 8 years ago I signed up for a similar sure and got a very nice vortex viper HD spotting scope and saved a size able amount but don’t recall which one it was. Now I’m looking for a pistol reflex sight. As of now I get the Vet discount of 10% from Bass Pro but interested if more discounts available. I assume GovX is the same type of biz but would like to hear first hand experience from someone who uses them. Anyone out there have any experience and info would be great.

It makes no sense to me. What is their angle? Unless they are subsidized or accept donations of some sort.

They are no different than a wholesale club, members get a discount. Why they feel the need to exclude some people. Is beyond me.

Pretending to give vets and first responders something in return. While making money off of them.

I have purchased many items from GovX. GovX is safe, convenient, has many items representing many brand names, their discounts are sigificant, their shipping is free ( and quick); in short, a discount is a discount. And of course they are making money off of first responders et al. Where is the controversy in that??? I also don't see a problem with targeting a niche group of customers. Why not? YMMV.

I signed up a few years ago. No big discounts on the things I was interested in. Same for The Exchange. Signed up and no big discounts in what I was interested in.

Now, my Son video called me recently from I think Andrews, and there were "good" prices on some scopes. Terrible selection.

Thanks for the comments guys. I’ll think on it and decide if I want to go through with it, I likely will anyway. Wish I could find the one I signed up earlier. Saved over $100 off the best price I could find on the Viper scope. I’ll have to start digging through a bunch of paperwork.

I've purchased 4 or 5 Vortex scopes for ARs and deer rifles from GovX. From time to time damnnear the entire Vortex line is discounted. Just keep your eyes peeled. And it doesn't cost a thing to register. Go for it. What do ya got to lose?

I "joined" GovX several years ago. Cancelled/unjoined 3 months later. My experience: only 1 out of 50 items I researched (my estimate) was less expensive at GovX than at other sources. I didn't have enough time to waste looking up stuff on GovX, then comparison shopping elsewhere, and then finally deciding to buy from someone else.

YMMV.

My youngest is LEO. He's signed up,, and has used them. According to him,, he likes it. I have no problem with a site like that. They offer stuff that professionals like all first responders may enjoy.

GovX didn’t really do much for me either. I got significantly larger discounts on Oakley sunglasses and prescription glasses through Oakley Standard Issue, OakleySI.com. I’m signed up for the military discount programs from Bass Pro (got my RAR in 7.62x39 on sale $100 off, PLUS a 5% discount on top of that), Sportsman’s Warehouse, (they both have stores about 45 minutes from me), and Academy Sports. The Exchange website lied and said the store at MacDill AFB had a Vortex scope I was looking at, but when I drove up there not only did they not have it but the gun store inside the exchange wasn’t even open on a Sunday. I’m not bothering with them anymore!

Update, tried signing back on but had issue. Some time ago had computer issue that messed up some of the sites I frequent and decided not worth the headache trying to get back in. What made me try GovX again was I was looking for a reflex sight( Vortex Defender-CCW) for my P 365X. After a bit of searching I got a little lower price then most others from Brownells.
Thanks for all comments

This has been my experience as well. Well, minus the Son part :)

Update if anyone’s interested, the vortex I ordered was delivered Thursday and setting it up I looking at the instructions and it mentions the 14 hour shut off and not 10 min. Brownells sites add said the one the were selling was the new version with the 10m self shutoff. Just to be on the safe side when I called to order it the first thing I asked the sales rep how long till it shuts off and she said it was the 10m newer version. Well the one I received was the older with the 14h. I was pissed and called them.

They checked and confirmed it was the older one and we’re going to contact me to set up delivery on the actual one I ordered. While I was running around to ship the damn thing back I got a call that went to VM saying they don’t have in stock and just send the one back for a full refund. It was sent back to them today and they can pawn off of someone else.

I won’t be using Brownells anytime soon that’s for sure. After I got home I ordered the current one through midway for the going rate that everyone seems to charging for the model but that’s fine. At least it’ll be the one I want.
If I don’t care for it on the 365 I was thinking I could it to my 629 for hunting, I’ll have to research to see if that’ll work?

It took me several months after joining to find a product that I wanted that offered a discount but it did work, & it's free to sign up, so I'm remaining a member for the foreseeable future.
