I'm so pleased with the accuracy and varmint killing capability of my first 77/17 HMR that I bought a 2nd for our planned 2012 PD hunt. Shot #2 yesterday to sight in the scope and was not too thrilled until about 7-8 shots through a cleaned barrel. Maybe just me and a new trigger but by the time the scope was dialed in, it was producing groups under 1/2" with 2 of 3 touching. As good as I can hold with the type crosshair and magnification of the scope.
Number 1 will consistently shoot 3 shots in a cloverleaf leaving just enough paper between the holes that it doesn't cut just one hole. There again, probably limited by the optic. If I was just shooting targets, I'd shift to an old 10X target scope with fine +hairs. Number 1 has accounted for 3 groundhogs with 4 shots and a severely injured coyote this month. I'm not enomored with this little round enough to use it beyond it's capabilties but it is just perfect for varmint disposal around buildings and where you don't want to make a lot of noise.
