Been wanting a bolt action that takes AR mags for a long time and have been interested in the American Ranch 5.56. The one and only thing I don't like about it is the lack of sights, I don't care for scopes on carbines. Found that Nodak Spud makes M16 style sights for it, only $120.00 or so delivered. Ordered the sights and found the rifle in stock at the fun store so I bought it.
Ruger really did a great job on this one, other than the lack of sights. The plastic stock is surprisingly rigid and quite comfortable for me, more so than any AR. The bolt cycles smoothly and the trigger is a very crisp 5 pounds or so, I don't really feel any need to adjust it. Only fired it at 60 yards so far, but it seems to be at least as accurate as my AR's. Love this carbine, thanks Ruger. Coyotes watch out!
