Got a Redhawk today.. How old is it?

I got this redhawk today for $500. It is VERY clean except where I had to clean glue off the frame where the guy glued :? the grips to the frame. He has some soft pachmayr's on it. Very ugly and didn't feel good to me. A little scotch brite will take care of that. I put these Ajax grips on as that is all I had laying around. The serial number is #502-33XXX

Any help would be appricated as to when it was made. Did I do OK on the price?

It is a 44 mag. I know about the sticky black mark on the metal. This guy literally glued the grips on, with super glue I think! :shock:

It was a mess to clean off. I have some scotchbrite that I fixed it up with already. After I took the pic. :roll:

I'd say you stumbled on a good buy. Looks in your picture LNIB. I'd like to find one in that barrel length. Send some lead down range for me.

I have taken it apart to see what kind of shape it was in. It looks as if it was shot very little. Very little wear marks of any kind. The inside was spotless. Didn't need to be cleaned at all. That is the first time I have seen a gun 22 years old that clean.

I will shoot it tomorrow if I get the chance and report back with the results.

I shot my RH today. It shoots very good. At 25 yards in the snow and poor footing I did keep 3-4 out of six in a 2" group off hand. I shot 20 rounds total. More tomorrow if the weather is better.

AARRGGGHHH! Superglue!?!? I wish you would not have used a Scotchbrite pad. Try soaking the frame in Acetone. It will disolve the superglue and make what is left of the rubber swell and not stick to the frame.
