I know the conversion kits for the SBH's didn't come with the wide SBH hammer, but was the trigger wide & grooved like the SBH triggers? If it ain't to much trouble, PLEASE reply to: [email protected]

Nope, the Super Blackhawk conversion kit triggers are smooth. I've used them in a few OM shooters that have ended up with "wide trigger slot" grip frames.

FWIW, on a "frequent" shooter I prefer the smooth trigger. I've "de-horned" a few of my original Super Blackhawk triggers so the "grooves" aren't so "abrasive".

On the first SBH I owned, 7-1/2" blued (approx early 80's), my brother and I mixed Acra-glas with used copier toner and filled the grooves in the trigger with that. Very smooth and much more comfortable to shoot.

I'll admit I do 'de-horn' (like that term) my grooved triggers especially around the edges and corners of the tip. I don't remove the grooves, just dull the sharp edges. But my double action shooters all must have smooth triggers.

I have an opportunity to buy what appears to be a slightly used Ruger SP101 357 Mag 2.5" barrel for $360. Can anyone give me any feedback as to this being a good deal or not?

Also, is there anything specific I should look for on the actual gun that would deter me from buying it?

Any input would be appreciated! Thanks.

#1 Question is "what's the .357 for?" A"carry"gun for in town? A "woods gun", i.e. something to have on your hip "just in case"? #3 A serious "hunting gun"?

To me a .357 is more of a "social" weapon, that is, it's pretty darn good when it comes to 2 legged varmints. PA has some decent sized Black Bears and I'd certainly not want to irritate one by nicking it with a medium bore bullet.

Me? I'd begin my research with 0.429"projectiles in the 280 gr. and heavier class and move up in bore size from there.........

JMHO,

Thanks for the tips, Flatgate. Very helpful. I am looking for it mostly as a CC and social so thanks for the information.
