I love mine.

No scope on this one, however I did have a scoped SRH in the past (but never used the DA, so SA is the way I go now). I used factory rings and a Leupold FX-II 4x28mm, which I'd go with again if I ever scope this one.

I also lapped the scope rings on the SRH.

Recently put a leupold 2x on my .41mag SBH hunter with the rings that came with the gun. Worked up a load for it and am now patiently waiting deer season. Well, not very patiently but looking forward to sitting in the woods with it.

I love my SBH Bisley in .44. I use the Ruger rings that are supplied...put a red dot on it. The trigger was/is great from the factory...maybe 3.5 lbs, breaks like glass, from the factory!! The gun is a tad heavy, but I know it is to soak up recoil. It took a little searching for a "sweet spot" hunting load, but it was worth it...a 260gr. WFNGC from Montana Bullet Works and 11gr. of Unique for about 1100fps. On mine, the factory laminate grips are just a tad slick, so I put checkered grips on it, better for me. Good Luck!!

I have a SBHBH and it is one shootin' machine.

Mine is dressed out with a Weigand Combat base and a UltraDot Match Dot sight.
4.5" at 100 yards, off a bag, as long as I do my part.

Offhand, the gun is a bit nose heavy, but it does a magnificent job soaking up recoil.

The laminate grips are just a tad slick but I have not found it enough of a detriment to change them yet.

Beartooth Bullets 300gr WFNGC (sized .432), over 20.5gr of H110 has proven to be my most accurate load.
Probably a tad much for a whitetail but you can't argue with the accuracy.

You certainly will not be disappointed with that gun. IMHO one of Ruger's finest configurations for a hunting handgun.

I too have a SBH hunter in the bisley configuration , nice gun. Its topped with a 2X Leopold in the Ruger rings. Never shot it at 100 yds. Its sighted in for 50 yds , that makes me good from 0 to 75 yds ....it shoots 2-3 inches at 50. That doesn't sound great , but its an honest figure for me. :) I agree it is nose heavy ... but its a hunting handgun , and as said before , it soaks up the heavy loads. I use 240 XTPs over a good dose of W-296 ... not max but close to it. It's good for anything I'm huntin in Pa.

I had one, couldn't warm up to the scope location. The gun just didn't balance well for me, but that is just me. I D&T'd my Bisley's topstrap and much happier.

I have a Bisley Hunter in 45 Colt. Love it. I did put a Leupold 2X on it, and it is very accurate at 50 yards. Have not shot it any further than that yet. Grips are by Cary Chapman.

I was the same way. I got the SRH for hunting and realized soon after that not only did I not use the double action, but I thought the SBH balanced better.

Both are excellent guns though.

I have a standard one in .45 Colt. Put a 2X Leupold on it and with my first handloads, it shot about a 4" group at 100yds off the bench shooting all six shots; and I am bad off the bench. Absolutely a great shooting revolver.

Thanks to all for the posts. I found one at a Gun Shop near Daytona Fl. I snapped it up NIB for $679.00. Now for the scope, I was thinking about the variable Leupold. Does it fit with the supplied rings? I know it is 2x8x32. I had the 2x leupold on a 41 mag BH and always wished it was a variable. Any recommendations welcome,

I have one in .45 Colt. Nice gun, but don't shoot it much. My 5 1/2" Accusport Bisley .45 is more accurate. Couldn't ever get used to a Bisley, so I converted it to a standard gripframe and hammer & trigger. Now my favorite handgun.

That is a pretty big scope. You may have to bottom out the rear sight to make it work with the supplied rings. Would suggest that you sight in the irons first and then count the clicks that it takes to make room for your optic. Thus you will still have a viable hunting tool should you have a scope failure in the field. I traded Ruger the medium rings for x-high so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

I got a SBHH Bisley a few months back and it's been amazing. I've got mine topped with a Burris FF3 (3moa) and I shoot quarter to half dollar sized groups at 25y all day long and 3" groups at 50y... Still working on my loads ...

I can (and occasionally will) take off the FF for open sight shooting too.

I'll post a pic when I get to a computer.

I have one of the 41 mags. Very accurate. I am still shooting the now discontinued Sierra 220 gr. fp bullet. That bullet and some H110 and holy buckets....look out. You will not be disappointed in any of the three calibers they are/were offered in.

As far as Hunter's go, we have the collection. When I graduated from grad school, my family purchased a .44 Hunter for me. We also found a first year .44 so we have two of those. One has a 2x Leupold and one is open sighted. All of our Hunters have the standard grip frame. Most of our collection gets shot. To me, they are the high point of New Model Single Action Rugers

I only wish Ruger would complete the set by making a .357 Hunter on the medium Frame and a 5 shot Hunter in 480.
