goodbye...joan rivers

Wasn't she hospitalized recently for complications resulting from an ordinarily routine proceedure?

I don't put much stock in the term "minor surgery."

Yes - She had an endoscopy last week and she apparently suffered a cardiac event during the procedure. I reckon it'll come to light sooner or later. Anesthesia is always the most dangerous part of these types of procedures. And really... At 81, nothing is 'routine'.

RIP Joan...

she was funny, I still remember her from the tonight show. "my best friend growing up was such a s--t, she had a coin changer under her skirt."

She had her moments. Some quite good, and then a few others.

On the positive side, she went in to the operating room, they said "this will
put you to sleep" and she will never wake up. That's as peaceful a passing
as you can get.

Hi,

Joan was a "Love her or hate her" type among many I knew. Once I figured her out, I kind of enjoyed her most of the time. She was certainly an icon! It had to be heartbreaking for her daughter to let her go, but a day or two ago, Melissa said herself she had to consider how her Mom would want to keep living. RIP, Ms. Rivers...

I heard when she passed they wheeled her right from ICU into the wax museum in Times Square.

Was the most annoying person I can imagine. Nothing made me reach for the remorte faster. Her offspring is more of the same. I do wish her...God Speed.

Her brand of self deprecating humor was pretty funny when women comedians were a rare treat. Later on not so much. :D

I told the wife that after seeing her and her daughter's photo I think the daughter looks more like Joan Rivers than the present Joan Rivers. She wasn't a favorite of mine but still was a funny lady.

With as much plastic surgery as she has had, wondering if they will bury her.....or recycle her......

I've been in some pretty raucous gatherings and heard some jokes that left my sides hurting the next day, but I don't believe any man I've known could best Joan Rivers on a roll! I add her to the list of people I want around the big poker table in the sky.

Spent a couple of hours with the LADY one time. She was kind, quite reserved, concerned about others around her, including me, and quite different than one would expect. It was an enjoyable event, made better by a lovely person, Miss Joan. It changed my whole opinion of her to see her interact with others in real life. (It was a book signing event at a store where I was the book department manager).

Some celebrities were a pain to deal with and you couldn't wait for them to leave. Joan Rivers was one where you wished she would stay all day. She was more concerned that she was being an inconvenience to those of us at the store than she was concerned about her own needs. And she spent A LOT of time visiting with fans who came to see her. Very kind and personable. Wish everyone could have seen this side of her.

I know her friends and family will miss her terribly. RIP Joan Rivers!
