I know opinions are like @#$%^&!+, everyone has one :D

Looking for a decent trail cam to mount on my deck to see what all animals are roaming around my yard and deck when I'm not around to see them. I don't want to spend a king's ransom (when was the last time you heard that phrase;)) but want one that is reliable and has decent optics. Haven't even started looking yet but 41Dude's post about "his" raccoon made me think about seeing what animals I have coming 'round at night. Where I live (the base of a mountain in central PA) I know I have deer, turkeys, turkey buzzards, raccoons, foxes, squirrels, chipmunks, feral cats, lots of birds, and who knows what else.

Does anyone make one that could be set up to be down loaded to say a cell phone if away from the premises? I know I probably could set up a video door bell system but I don't know if I want to do that at this time.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I don't have a suggestion for a particular trail cam, but my son in law uses one that sends pics to his phone. He originally had it set up to send pics as they occurred but it would go through a set of batteries in a few days. A friend with a similar unit told him to bulk upload once or twice a day, and that extended battery life significantly so is something to consider. The one downside, for me, is the monthly subscription. But convenience has a price.

If there is ability to hardwire, there are relatively inexpensive security systems that might be a better option.
