Glock19?

I was at my local range tonight and shot a Glock 19 + a MP40 + my SR9. The Glock + the Mp are range rental guns. I cant believe I shot better with the Glock , my old eyes could see the back sight outlined in white easier. [I wear glasses]
The big question is can I concealed carry a Glock 19 during the summer? I don't know if the 26 will be that much easier,nor how much Less accurate a 26 is? He didn't have any compacts to shot.
THIS DEALER IS WILLING TO GIVE ME $325.00 trade in to wards a new Glock or a MP for my SR9. Thats $80.00 more than any other Dealer in town will do! If you have a 19 or a 26 PLEASE advise.

I have a 26, shown below. Most people put pinky extensions on them to have a place for the little finger, they are great, as shown below. As well as making it way more easy to shoot, the extension makes the 26 damn near as big as the 19, except for about an extra half inch extra on the 19 barrel. If I had it to do again, I'd get a 19. YOu could still carry it in a big pocket, and it's really the perfect Glock ... the best of everything. As much as I like the 26, I wish I had gotten the 19 now. Live and learn ....

I'd do that deal in a second. Oh, and don't give accuracy a second thought ,,, they're both very good ... you may notice a difference between the 17 and the 26 (primarily because of longer sight radius), but the 19 and the 26 will be essentially the same. I've shot both, back to back, and didn't notice a difference ... as long as the pinky extension is on the 26. The 26 can be a handful with hot or +P 9's without the pinky extension.

I had an SR9, I now have a 19. I'm not an SR9 hater or a Glock fan boy. The SR9 is all the good things said about it, it's pretty, good ergos, thin, large cap, and it's a Ruger. The Glock is what it is too, not pretty, different grip, thicker, and it's a Glock. The SR9 is larger than the 19 which is larger than the 26. The 19 conceals fine IWB and a loose tee shirt, obviously the 26 would be better.

For some reason I shoot better groups at 10 yards with the 19 than the SR9. I like the Glock rear sight too but this 19 I bought used and it has Trijicons. I don't notice the heinous grip at all. Even with a fluff & buff I suspect the trigger causes bigger groups, as Conrad has mentioned elsewhere. A vaporware Ghost trigger bar is asking for trouble in a carry gun so you're stuck with it.

If I had wanted a range gun only the SR9 with a better trigger would be fine, I'm not more accurate than any handgun at this point. I can only have so many handguns so for carry it's the 19.

Yeah Cheez. Be nice if this didn't turn into a bash-fest again on both sides of the equation. Right. The good points and faults of both weapons are pretty well known. It's the opinions that cause the "spirited discussion". You're not Glock fan Cheez, but I suspect your opposition here is more in response to the Glock do-no-wrong/SR9 sucks people.

I like Rugers, currently own 3, but the Glock shoots better in my hand than the SR9. Don't like that but can't ignore it. I actually discovered this right after I got the SR9. My son traded into a well used LE G23 and I shot better with it on the first string than the Ruger. Ignoring all the white noise surrounding the SR9 I finally realized it was stupid of me to avoid the fact that I shot better groups with a Glock.

A full-size Glock is not hard to conceal in the summer, provided you are willing to adopt the proper wardrobe. My casual summer attire is jeans and a Hawaiian shirt -- with that outfit, Dirty Harry's .44 Mag is no problem to conceal. But my work clothes are necessarily more formal -- usually a suit or slacks and a sportcoat, with the coat often taken off in an office setting.

Here's where the small Glocks shine. The 26 is a great little gun, but for me the grip is just too thick. My hand just can't get a comfortable, secure grip, and although I carried one for a year I ultimately traded it in on a sister Glock -- the Model 36. The 36 grip is absolutely perfect in my hand. Yes, I've only got 7 rounds -- but they are .45s. And with a simple homemade pocket holster and the roomy pockets I insist on in the trousers I wear, the 36 just disappears and rides comfortably all day long. I like the 36 so much, in fact, that I now own two.

I actually find it more comfortable and controllable than the 26, due to the much better grip it affords my hand. That, combined with the centerline of the bore being so low, makes it quite easy to handle.

I wouldn't think more than half a second on that one. Grab it fast. CCW is no problem with the 19, as long as you choose the right shirt. I had a 26, but like Rev said, ended up with the extension anyway, so no gain.

Except the half inch off the front of the 19 ... :D.

I'd snap that 19 up in a second if they're giving you that much for your SR9 on a trade.

You're right Rev and I almost added that, but I think the bbl is easy to deal with. I don't think I used the short mags at all in the 26. I just could not get a grip I liked.

I looked awfully hard at a Gen 3 G21 that was there in the case beside it too, but was able to pry myself away. :cry: My safe is still heavily Ruger though. :wink:

I have a range buddy that has a Glock long barreled .40 S&W, that thing is extra ugly. It does shoot pretty accurate but the slide looks like it's a foot long.

We go through all this stuff about reliability issues with the "new" SR9 and SR9c and then RUFFBIRD shows us that video clip with Hickok45 demonstrating his line of Glocks. There is NO issue of reliability with those guns. Watch that video and enjoy the heck out of it.

Thats a trade I couldn't make fast enough. If you like and shoot the G-19 better its a step in the right direction for you. The current Glocks come with the 5.5 disconnect which gives a very good trigger once you become accustomed to it and the quick reset is easy to get a feel for and Glock reliability speaks for itself. I personally find the G-26 too small without a mag extension and if you use them you just as well go to the G-19/G-23 size gun. I pretty much stay with Glock and 1911s as you can get parts (any and all parts) from several differant Vendors at any time.
ETA the standard (non night sights) are very fragile on these guns, expect to replace them.
