Unfortunately, with the Gen 4s, is NOT what it used to be with the Gen 3s and earlier... calling Glock... Again. Well the first call was just to ask about the recall and serial number and date of manufacture. We may be dealing with mfg waranty now. See not just Rugers have their issues. Oh almost forgot to mention. Multiple ftfs and ftes. Gotta, get this fixed. They already offered to send a new RSA (recoil spring assembly) but this one is already post recall... Gonna accept that and if still issues they will hear about it.

These companies just keep improving stuff and improvinge stuff until the stuff doesn't work at all anymore ....

BMW's used to be one of the best cars on the road when they were simple ... now they're one of the biggest reliability nightmares in the automobile world.

Which is exactly why I am RARELY (NEVER) on the bandwagon jumping after ANY new release ... ESPECIALLY 'new and improved' gun releases .... :D

Well I wasnt really jumping on the bandwagon. I traded into it. The old generation glocks never fit my hand. Had to try the gen 4 as it actually did. Now dealing with reliability issues...

I never have issues with my Springfield 1911 Loaded or XD .40!

I dont wanna be like the guy who put 1200 rounds through his trying to figure out were the issue was coming from. I will just have to wait till.my recall rsa arrives and go from there. According to the chart (yes there are charts dedicated to this now) my RSA was one of the post recall variations... And according to the tech on the phone should be working fine. We shall see....

I don't either ! ... but they're not made COMPLETELY in America by skilled union workers .... LOL.

What are the issues with the new G's ?? I'm really not up on them anymore.

I have had a 3rd gen G19 for over ten years. Went thru the Police Academy with it, carried on and off duty. Used it for Pins and Plates. I have never had a malfunction in it.

Yeah ... we all know the 1st 3 gens were good ... they're talking about the 4th gen being problematic. :D

You didn't lube the firing pin did you?

I don't keep up with Glocks, mainly because I don't like the strange double trigger, which I can never figure out how it makes the pistol safer.... but anyway... the other problem I have, which I know is a matter of taste, is they all look like shoe boxes to me ....square corners.... handguns are supposed to be like a woman... and have curves.

It's like the grip safety on a 1911 ... gun theoretically can't fire if the little trigger thingy isn't pressed ... same as the grip safety. Keeps it safe from firing if dropped. It definitely works, and doesn't change the trigger at all.

+1 the Ruger Sr9 and my springfield XD has it too.

The problem with the Gen 4s are very extensive. Ranging from.ftf and fte due to timing issues... (reading this was caused by the frame change) and the recoil spring assembly RSA and they have extractor problems. The more read the issues with this the more sour the taste in my mouth gets.

Yep! Everyone who has these issues wishes they had a 3rd gen. Everyone who has a 3rd gen is Glad they are not stuck with the recall / variations /charts to try to figure out which issues they are dealing with.

I've been on glocktalk for a while now, NOW i just have a headache.

I've owned a few Glocks...I kept wanting to like them, but they just didn't fit my hand (I have small hands.) I wanted a basic, inexpensive pistol that would really work, one that I could find parts anywhere, and that was simple and easy to maintain. Plus, I wouldn't cry if it got banged up carrying it or in the car (although I would never abuse ANY gun.) The only Glock that I ever really liked the way it felt was the 36...the one model with the highest record of problems....go figure!

I still check in on Glock Talk from time to time, because I keep hearing rumors about a single stack 9mm. When I do, I read posts that even the later production 3G models are having some problems....not just the 4G models.

Stick with RUGER and/or buy a Smith & Wesson M&P VTAC (Viking Tactical)...and save yourself lots of heartache (which also places your life in harms way due to unreliability).

DUMP THE UGLY GLOCK which I award 32 duhs !

First let me say I'm sorry that Glock is having problems... just because I don't care for their pistols doesn't mean I wish them ill.

as for the double trigger and safety...

why is it my P95 decock model has no safety and no double trigger and you can drop it and it won't fire?

Why is it that before the SR recall ... the SR's had standard triggers and drop-fire issues .... and after the recall .... the SR's all magically had Glock-like triggers ? Think maybe Ruger disassembled a few Glocks ??

Obviously it's a totally different fire control system than the P guns.

That's why most LEO's across the country carry Glocks.

I don't know of a single dept that carries a Ruger and most have gotten away from Smith's over the last few years. I think Glock and Sig are the most widely used duty weapons.

I submit. For now I'll just need to sit back and wait on Glock. The 19 gen 4 has been retired to the safe till...

Well I'll update, when I figure this out. (NOTE TO SELF. Avoid Glocktalk to figure this out. There is just TOO DAMN MUCH information and confusing charts) *rubs away headache*

he rep/tech on the phone wasn't much help in determining what the problem is. Simply stated I would be receiving a new post-recall RSA. The weird thing is mine already has the upgraded washer/plunger thingy on the business end that is supposedly part of the recall fix. So we'll see.

There have been a few helpful or at least meaningful individuals on Glocktalk that are great.

However, I will say, I AM eye'ing the Ruger SR9C.

My father-in-law's SR9C fits my hand perfect. His has never jammed. While I'm having issues with my Glock, his SR is just ticking away without any problems...Just like a PRE Gen 4 Glock.

So as a quick summary:

* Any Glock I can trust does not fit my hand correctly. PRE-GEN4
* (Note to self: avoid the Gen 4s)
* Dad's SR9C is great. Maybe I should look at getting one
* Still looking for a CZ75B Stainless. LoL

I have an early Gen 4 Glock 22 and have had one stove pipe and one failure to go into battery and it's had at least 2500 rounds through it .Does Glock have the serial number of the recalled gun on their web sight. I sent in the warenty card or did it on line ,I don't remember but I need to know if my gun is under recall . My Kimber is back in the gunsmith's shop getting a carry bevel and a touch up on the trigger so for now at least the Glock is my duty weapon AND my off duty gun till the Kimber is done . I still have my PPS backup I carry but If my Glock needs fixing I need to know .
Lou
P.S. I just ckecked their website and anwsered my own question All glock Gen 4 pistols made before 07-11-11 except for G26-G27's need to have the recoil spring replaced . You just go to their website and call the 800 # and give them your gun's serial # and the'll ship you out a new spring w/ a perpaid return envlope to return your old spring. Guess it's a good thing that i always carry two guns ,you just never know. I reckon I'll be toten my 6" M-29-2 with .4 spl's defence loads in my sholder holster till I ether get my Kimber back or my new spring . I'm going to ask them if they can rush me one since it's my duty gun .I bought my own duty gun for the same reason that DA_TriggR4Ruger did . Our department issue gun is the Gen 3 G22's and they just don't fit my hand .

I just wantyed to let y'all know .I talked with Glock this morning and if your an L.E.O. the'll overnight you the new RSA for your Gen 4 gun .Just make sure you tell them your an L.E.O. and they will get you on the fast track .
Your friend,
lou

I should get my RSA Monday! This is rediculous... According to the charts mine is already post recall... my current RSA is a 0-4-3, which according to the charts is the most current. We'll see what the new one is!

I had more malfunctions with two Gen2 Glock 19's than probably any other semi autos I've owned (a LOT) , not counting one cheap 1911 with lots of crappy parts in it.

As for "what LEO's" use, I don't know that there's anything that has LESS influence on my choices than that. lol

How the mighty have fallen. The gen 4s are a good idea. The QC and testing was terrible though. As I understand it, new production guns are running fine now, but I think everyone is a bit disappointed in Glock. I'm sticking with my Gen 3s for now.

Actually I've been following what I will call the "Gen 4 Disaster" for months over at GT and the biggest problem has been Gen4 19's. They at first had too strong a recoil spring assembly for it. They screwed with the extractor/ejector and everyone was getting hit with brass or failures to eject properly. But, it looks like many of the problems have been winding down lately. I've read a ton of messages indicating that they send their pistol in, got the new ejector and rsa, and it came back running perfectly. I've even seen a thread lately where the newer pistols are going back to the glossy finish instead of the awful looking gray flat finish that wears badly. Hopefully the newest glossy will be as durable as the older glossy used to be.

Good luck,

Alan

This seems to be the general concensus over on Glocktalk.

No RSA came today. Maybe it will arrive tomorrow. Delayed due to holiday?

Thats probably my BIGGEST problem. I had not kept up with Glocks. Had I been aware of the issues, I would have passed on the trade. My other gun worked fine. I dont wanna talk about it. *sighs*

The new CZ75B Stainless will be a GREAT 9mm. for range/general purpose/plinking (I'm hoping... range report pending). The Glock is my conceal carry and its outa comission right now. Time to solve this issue quick.

I'll just say this in defence of Glock and EVERY other gun manufacture that's EVER brought some new concept to the table .Not one company that i can think of has NOT had to recall a gun for one reason or another .Glocks ARE GOOD guns ,yes there ugly to some and some and others don't like the way they feel in their hand or don't like them for what ever reason but here's a fact .There's more Glocks riding in Police .military and civilian holsters around the world than all other guns combined . There's a reason for that THEY WORK 99.99% of the time ,so love them or hate then there still a good sidearm .And at least Glock is on top of trying to make things right with there customers .Not all companies do that in a timely manner .Yes I would prefer to carry my Kimber .45 ACP as my duty gun ,but that ain't ,mt call it's the Sheriff's it's not because i don't like the G22 I just shoot the 1911 platform a little bit better ,buy with my Gen 4 G22 I'm well armed indeed .the differnce is hi90's to 100 with the Kimber 95% or better with the Glock .Not enough diffrence to really matter ,with ether gun I WILL win the gun fight .
